Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Halloween
Havoc 1995 29/10/1995 Match 1 Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!
On
rotation: if you have been viewing my WCW
Nitro content I did make a decision to watch this pay-per-view, but the next
pay-per-view I have already chosen we are heading to the land of WWF actually
by today it is better known as WWF/WWE.
Basic
walk-through of this event:
Opening sequence to
this pay-per-view: obviously it is horrid based within a nutshell The Dungeon of Doom's The Giant vs. the WCW
Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan and the two monster trucks: I just wanted to
point out this is/was highly creative and engaging.
* Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain"
Heenan/"Wiesel": welcome us to this event and then gets straight on
talking about The Dungeon of Doom's The Giant vs. the WCW Heavyweight Champion
Hulk Hogan in not one but two matches tonight; the first being a Sumo Monster
Truck Match and then the second match is for the WCW Championship in a Single
Match [we see footage of these two competitors essentially jousting in these
Monster Truck on the top of this building.] Incoming information "The
Nature Boy" Ric Flair has been attacked by Flyin' Brian & "The
Enforcer" Arn Anderson which puts doubt over his tag team match tonight
against them with the WCW US Heavyweight Champion Sting. Schiavone sets things
rolling onto our first match sending it to video package.
* Video package of
how we came to be here in our first match/match slot: likewise this is/was
excellently put together with excellent voice-over and informative as well.
* David Penzer: Ring
announcer says the stipulations and then introduces the competitors.
Warning: there
is flashing effects/colourful effects/shooting/choking
Match/Stipulations: Johnny B. Badd vs. the WCW World Television
Champion "The 13 Million Dollar Man" Diamond Dallas Page [with
Diamond Doll & Max Muscle:] Singles Match for the WCW Television
Championship
Match Attributes:
Match Quality: 7/10
Match Slot Storyline: 7/10
Crowd Participation: 7/10
On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The
Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel" 8/10
Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10
Recommend Watch: 7/10
Match Total: 43/60
- this match/match slot is good.
Comments: as you can clearly see this is a good opening
to this pay-per-view, we get an update on both of these situations I have
already mentioned as it relates to Flair and sting, The Giant and Hogan;
including later on explaining or making reference to"Mean Gene"
Okerlund explaining the rules of this Sumo Monster Truck Match, but Schiavone
repeating them.] But on to the match itself, Schiavone says that Nick Patrick
is one of the finest referee's in our sport [I was thinking I would just leave
that here for the older generation, because he wasn't and conveniently I can
tell you why next.] Bad performs this backslide pin, Patrick slides in to see
the near shoulder first begins the count, doesn't look at the far shoulder,
moves more around to see both shoulders still counting, and no idea why because
as Heenan will point out "his shoulders are not down!" and to back up
Heenan here there is more than enough here to say Heenan is correct.
Basic Result: Johnny
B. Badd is the new WCW World Television Champion
Basic walk-through
of this event:
* Tony Schiavone & Bobby
"The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel": Commentary talk about what
they had just seen over video replays with "He's A Bad Man" Johnny B.
Badd's theme music "Don't mess with Johnny B. Badd [with Torn.] They are on screen; talking more about the main event match between The
Giant vs. Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match and Sumo
Monster Truck Match.
* David Penzer: Ring announcer says the
stipulations and then introduces the competitors.
