Review Time

Warning: there is flashing effects/disfigurement/drugs/medical/shooting/run over

In the late 1910's; this packed was made in World War I: between this Dr. Burt Berendsen [Christian Bale] Harold Woodsman; Soldier I [John David Washington] and later on Valerie Voze; Nurse [Margot Robbie] to always be there for one another and from this; these relationships blossomed which involved spending some time in Amsterdam. I should point out to that I have gone from the beginnings of these relationships and not the beginning of the film itself.

Straight off the bat the pacing of this roughly 130 minutes film is terrible. No it is genuinely a pile of manure, it just drifts along and drifts along and drifts along. I mean this film feels so much longer, because of this problem which consequently has a negative impact on this film. This is not on the performers themselves, but consequently generally speaking the dialogue exchanges feel really drawn out and there is no upbeat tempo/gear change to the dialogue exchanges. I know people spoke differently back then, which is absolutely fine, but can we have a little bit of get up and go in this film that would have been nice, speaking of getting up and going yes this is honestly true; two people got up and left the cinema with the person I go to the cinema and watch some films with actually fell asleep twice whilst watching this film.

Now don't get me wrong the art is elegant as it relates to the scenery, costumes and all that. Valerie has artistic interests be it making films or art which in some cases can be interpreted as a little bit out there or another way of looking at it is up cycling; this art is highly engaging and/or imaginative. Around the ending credits  General Gil Dillenbeck [Robert De Niro;] based on Smedley Butler on one side and then we see the real footage of  Smedley Butler as they give the same speech and to finish off we see some more of Valerie's art; this is all positive.

Character developments and performances; the character developments are, what they are and the performances are solid as well. There is also a little bit of comedy here and there and for an example Milton King [Chris Rock] I am paraphrasing here; doing this white guy and black guys thing.

This film receives: 4/10, this film is mixed; on reflection I had to take off a mark, because as I have already clearly indicated/made reference to; the pacing in a nutshell sucks the life out of this project, if you like any of these performers which I have mentioned, take a look at this film or there is other names performing in this film that may appeal to such as Taylor Swift as Elizabeth Meekins and/or Zoe SaldaƱa as Irma St. Clair and others.
