Review Time

Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/environmental/animal cruelty/kamikaze

If you can get through roughly the first 30 minutes the film is mostly solidly good: I will begin in present times; Brian Harper [Patrick Wilson] an ex-/shamed NASA Commander astronaut which has lost everything because of this incident on his last outer space mission [when you come to watch this film you will see this first] where he saves one of his fellow NASA astronauts in Jocinda "Jo" Fowler, but nowadays Deputy Director/acting Director of NASA [Halley Berry.] But a grand total of roughly 11 years and 6 months later they and the world have unfinished business with what happened, but this time they come with Dr. KC Houseman [John Bradley] yes I should point out to those people that have seen this film I know he isn't a doctor [he brings this up at the closing stages of this project.]

As I have already indicated the first section or more of this project is really tiresome and it does go on for more than 30 minutes, but the reason why I have gone for this timeframe is because okay we need some of this content here but not roughly 45 minutes or slightly a little bit more, I should now take a split second to point out that this film goes on for roughly 130 minutes.

The pacing, the character types and the performances really don't help much, besides Holdenfield [Donald Sutherland] he has a small role but it is very easy to get drawn in by his dialogue exchange with acting Director of NASA Fowler. The rest of them are solid versions of what they character types should be for an example Dr. KC Houseman an highly intelligent person which also acts as predominately the comedy relief.

But when this film wants to kick in a much higher gear the pacing, character types and performances are reliably good.

Continuing when this film is in this match higher gear it really does show what this film is capable of be it this outside the box method to get space rocket/shuttle into air with one damaged engine containing Harper, Fowler and Houseman, for some strange reason after this sequence even the disaster sequences look better or in the Moon or anything here is action, treat for the eyes and all-round excellent content here.

But then again this film shoots itself in the foot by leaving things open for a sequel and without giving too much away it uses the kind of opening that if you have a guaranteed sequel by all means do it, but if you cannot get the green light or do not have a guaranteed sequel in place man your viewing audiences are going to be disgruntled [yes I am putting it very politely] sometime down the line; Because there is potentially supremely better content to be used in a sequel, let's just hope they don't do what Independence Day 1996 and Independent Day: Resurgence 2016 which as you can clearly see is 20 years between original and sequel, because yes this film is good, but it is hardly a future classic in the making.

This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; well considering at one point it was going to get a 1/10, a 6/10 is a fair outcome and trust me when I say this it is all about the strengths of this film as I have already referenced them in this review, but the only thing I can't really make too much reference to is this beautiful back story; yes I can mention it and pointed out but that is as much as I can say about it, so let me finish this review on a positive note if you are really and I do mean really into your science-fiction or disaster movies, give this film a look, but you will have to be patient with it.
