He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 83 -- 85 [Volume 8] Episode 49: Return of the Gryphon by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this episode is truly a mixed bag for so many reasons, it's like there are some good points, some really good points such as this episode beginning at night time [it shows a little bit of imagination and something different.] But then the audience has to put up with for an example Orko which by now if you haven't guessed is not a good thing.

Boy character: well he makes this episode just a pain to watch every time he opens his mouth or he is just on screen [his voice will become like nails on a chalkboard to anyone that watches this episode,] from my experience of this episode he puts a massive downer on this adventure, in fact I don't know which one is worse Orko or this boy character.

Trap Jaw and Beast Man: they have good chemistry; I am just disappointed that we as the audience don't get to see a lot of it, it is one of those occasions where, if they built an episode around these two characters, I wouldn't have minded that. Because throughout their scenes, the audience can feel and hear in their dialogue exchanges to one another, that individually in their own unique ways these two characters are or have some kind of intelligence, but then again all I can say is this; you can see why they are minions or henchman to Skeletor as well.

Action sequences/Comedy level: now in this one sequence of events I can talk about these two elements together, at some point in this episode He-Man will grab this creature by his tail and swing him around and around and around, until he lets go and this creature heads into outer space [no seriously] they have made this creature head into outer space, but don't worry he comes back to continue this episode.

Fundamental core: because I don't like talking about one project for too long I will keep this short, this episode would have done much better if the audience didn't have to put up with this; on one hand we have this serious yet interesting thing happening with this creature and He-Man [just for the record no Cringer/Battle Cat for some reason] on the other hand we are having to deal with this boy and Orko being in this episode, so the fundamental core feels a little bit all over the place.

Ending message: is something to the effect of this; be responsible for your actions

This episode receives: 50% approval, now as you can see this episode has many talking points and yes I would have liked to give this episode a slightly better percentage of approval. But how can I put this; when this episode is good it is interesting and entertaining, but when it isn't so good in a nutshell it is hard work to watch.
