Just
a very short 17 years later between instalments [meant with sarcasm:] rough outline; Detective Lieutenant Michael "Mike" Lowrey/Uncle
Mike/other name [Will Smith:] he is still charismatic and financially well off,
now including no longer being with Sydney 'Syd' Burnett. Detective Lieutenant
Marcus Burnett/Pop-pop [Martin Lawrence:] he is still a family man, in fact
these two are quickly rushing to the hospital to see/meet their first
grandchild, because of this Detective Lieutenant Burnett/Pop-pop is now
strongly thinking of retirement from the Miami PD, but unknown to them someone
is out for revenge and it is worth noting again that we have a cameo from
Michael Bay as Wedding MC.
Generally
speaking: the framework and pacing of this
124 minutes film; well this entire project is heavily problematic for roughly
the first half. It never gets going which is detrimental to this instalment,
including a 6 month time jump, on top of that it splits up this partnership
which is just dumb; let's just split up this partnership which carried the
first sequel [I know it was some years ago, but it is still a valid point
nonetheless,] that sounds like a great idea Not! Which at this point in this
sequel it can be easily split down Burnett comedy; simply put no thank you, it
is not funny or amusing/Lowrey action and art; this works including in one
action sequence in this garage location in place of business so we have a gun
to go with car paint or just paint of some description through this chaotic
sequence of events there is this paint having a presence in this sequence at
some point which is a creative touch, but let's be honest it does feel like
Burnett is missing; so if I haven't made this crystal clear yet let's try not
to do this kind of character development again shall we, it just doesn't work,
if something works it does need fixing.
Now together; Lowrey/Smith and Burnett/Lawrence; when
they put the band back together again there is this outstanding sky colour
system, they have this serious yet comical intention on this plane as they involve
another passenger switching chairs that kind of skit variety. Later on Burnett
has a crisis of religion as this partnership has been smartly updated to
represent Burnett as a man of religion, whilst Lowrey is a sinner as in one is
an angel whilst the other is a fallen angel; which in turn reinforces their
lifelong brotherhood, just for the record I am not being racial here they are
best friends/brothers/family. But back to this sequence; we have our
partnership on his motorbike with site card which conveniently has this massive
gun built on to it, so through this chaos Lowrey is trying to obviously deal
with this situation, but obviously also trying to get his partner through his
crisis of religion so he will use the gun; this is more like it as it relates
to this franchise and this working partner/family connection.
For the rest of the cast their character developments
are all good and the performances from all of the cast are likewise all good,
there isn't much more I can say about it really, because of the first half; it
puts this film back on its heels to start with.
This
film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; as I
have made it crystal clear throughout this content in one way or another the
first half or somewhere around here is in essence a disaster and whilst I'm on
the subject they could have clearly took off 34 minutes of this film, but as
you can see they had to really work hard to get this respectable [with taking
everything into consideration it is a respectable mark,] even though based on my
opinion it is the lowest marking of an instalment from this franchise so far
and yes we have two extra scenes both roughly around the title of this film and
the first ending credits. This film has some awards accredited to its name; 3
Winners People's Choice Awards, USA 2020 People's Choice Award Favorite Male
Movie Star Will Smith and 15 Nominees which includes from the same award
ceremony/event I mentioned earlier Favorite Female Movie Star Vanessa Hudgens
(actor) [as Kelly; a member of this AMMO -
Advanced Miami Metro Operations.]
