Review Time

Warning/Speculation: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/racism/stabbing/shooting/animal cruelty/animal feeding/cutting/impaling/breaking/vehicle crashing/biting/dismemberment/impaling/torture/medical. Now at some point I will be using speculation.

Here we go again: rough outline; the story continues from Bad Boys for Life 2020 Link https://averagemansreviews2017.blogspot.com/2024/06/bad-boys-for-life-2020-by.html ; Detective Lieutenant  Michael "Mike" Lowrey [Will Smith:] has recently got married to his therapist and is also struggling with a health concern and his partner Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett [Martin Lawrence:] which he himself has suffered a health concern; they still both work for the Miami PD, but they now find themselves on the run with Armando Aretas [Jacob Scipio:] which if you have seen the previous film has a criminal history, but for now I will just say he is a relation of Detective Lieutenant Lowrey, but he is helping them with their latest case and yes we have a cameo from Michael Bay as Porsche driver.

Generally speaking: the framework and pacing of this 115 minutes film is straightforward which isn't a problem in itself, but then it will give someone like me plenty of time to destroy it; as you will see throughout this content.

The script and consequently character developments are a kind of rehashing from the previous instalment; broadly speaking it is now Detective Lieutenant Burnett's turn and then back onto Detective Lieutenant Lowrey with his developing health concern. I get what they are trying to do with this partnership as I said or referenced in the previous instalment Burnett is the angel and Lowrey is the fallen Angel symbiotic circle and yes they explored is more in this instalment to comical effect as well, with Burnett walking over this belief he cannot be killed, but and I am absolutely fine with this; but we have to be reminded that they are getting old. Like they just said I am absolutely fine with this, but the way things are going is and I don't want to be morbid, but the sands of time is catching up with this partnership as one is religious and the other is feeling the pressure now he has a lot to lose and it is now borderline okay/sad [I will talk about this more later on] and for the other character developments they are either reliably good versions of what they are meant to be or predictable as I could see one coming from miles and miles and miles away. The performances of of this cast are all good, but this instalment with no surprise here heavily relies on Smith and Lawrence [including Scipio when he is on screen.]

Art and action; The this out of body experience or/and mental imagery; this is all highly creative art and like the previous instalment but more of a presence in this instalment; this film has a thing about skies; on one hand I am not criticising because they are striking and captivating, but on the other hand I am just making an observation; it is just a little bit odd, you don't have to look that hard when you come across them you will notice what I mean. For the action; yes we have the highly chaotic things associated with this franchise, but we have this sequence between Detective Lieutenant Lowrey and Detective Lieutenant Burnett where they throw a gun between one another and at one point or another we the audience switched to first-person shooter; this is something subtle and fresh to this franchise.

This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; after taking everything into consideration I couldn't give this sequel anything more or anything less, as I said to someone today that asked; they should stop the franchise, on reflection and this is where the speculation comes into effect; they have left a very tiny window open for a sequel, you just have to pay attention where a window is; so either come out with one more instalment or if it should happen which it won't, but if it did they should get the Bad Boys and the Lethal Weapon and Axel Foley to do one massive crossover to take down the biggest record in US history portrayed by Wesley Snipes, his right-hand man David Batista, his left-hand Lady Florence Kasumba and his product manager Gary Busey. But back in reality they should use the very small window they have left and come out with one more instalment just to finish off with one last ride.
