Sometimes doing the right thing comes with a heavy price: basically; after Dr. Jack Ryan [Harrison Ford:] is an ex-CIA analyst, but nowadays is a lecturer at the US Navy Academy Annapolis, Maryland with his family. But after he takes action to stop this terrorist activity, where he gets shot and killed somebody. Unfortunately that somebody happens to be Sean Miller [Sean Bean:] little brother and as Sean Miller is a member of a splinter unit from the IRA, the splinter unit meaning they have links to the IRA, but they are very much on their own mission, which Miller now just once revenge for his baby brother, by any means, by any cost; revenge.

Generally speaking: the framework and pacing of this 117 minutes film is; this is one of those films that is slow, but designed to be progressively slow and steady as it works on catching Sean Miller, it is a very atmospheric film as it reflects what is happening at that point in the film, be it slow and steady as I have already indicated or quicker when you are in the action sequences.

Speaking of the action sequences; I don't want to be too disrespectful, because if you have been here and through this timeframe in history, you would understand that; we just didn't have as much technology as we do today in 2024; but we do have gunfights and as I have already put in the warning section a vehicle crashing as in a rough description; Miller is trying to take out Dr. Jack Ryan's family by shooting at them from one vehicle to their vehicle, consequently causing the crash; but all the action sequences are solidly good.

Character developments and performances; the character developments are likewise solidly good versions of what they are meant to be, but on reflection this is very much a cast performance; such as James Earl Jones as Admiral James Greer; his position is CIA Deputy Director, he offers Jack come back the CIA but Jack declines the first time; he also gives us the only mention of comedy; basically he casually interrupts this heated conversation, says his bit and then says you were telling Jack why we wouldn't want his help [or something to that effect] and then Samuel L. Jackson as Commander-In Chief Robby Jackson, he is good friends with Prof Jack Ryan.

This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; and again on reflection I decided to award this film an extra mark based on the cast. This film also has some awards accredited to its name 1 Winner ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards 1993 ASCAP Award Top Box Office Films James Horner and 3 Nominees that includes Young Artist Awards 1993 Young Artist Award Best Young Actress Under Ten in a Motion Picture Thora Birch as Sally Ryan: the daughter to Jack and his wife/her mother Dr. Cathy Ryan [as Anne Archer:] she is a medical doctor/surgeon and she can't go back to the life they once had.
