It is getting so that you can't trust anyone these days: basically; this small group of people have been assembled to steal this briefcase, but most of us including the viewers have no idea what we are stealing in the briefcase; what I can tell you for a certainty is that Sam [Robert De Niro:] a ex-CIA, but now American mercenary and Vincent [Jean Reno:] a French gunner that between Vincent and Sam they become friends, I will discuss this more later on.

The framework and pacing of this 121 minutes film is well; I know or I think I know what they are trying to achieve with this slow foundation, I think they are trying to achieve you know this slow espionage atmosphere and tone and it works for a very small bit of the film when it starts. But other than that it sticks with this outlay, of being slow other than in the action sequences, but it really doesn't have a change of gear other than what I have just said.

Action/Art: the vehicle chase sequences are good and for the art me at some ballet being performed and this scene and the little wooden figurines being painted, based around the 47 Ronin [yes this gets discussed in this film and the word Ronin as you will see gets discussed with words coming on the screen when this film begins.]

Character developments and performances: on both counts they are generally speaking solidly good. Robert De Niro as Sam and Jean Reno as Vincent separately or together keep this film on course and upwardly mobile; in a nutshell it is one of those occasions where I can easily say this; without them this film would have really struggled and possibly fail to its knees, so if you are a fan of Robert De Niro, Jean Reno or/and Stellan SkarsgÄrd as Gregor: a German computer specialist and ex-KGB then you may want to take a look at this film.

This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; I mean I have never seen it before this viewing experience, so after everything is said and done this mark is a fair outcome, there is also these very tiny moments of comedy may be twice in this film and on top of that it has some awards accredited to its name as well. Winner 1 Young Hollywood Awards 1999; Young Hollywood Awards Best Soundtrack Elia Cmiral and 4 Nominees that includes MTV Movie + TV Awards 1999; MTV Movie + TV Awards Best Action Sequence Robert De NiroNatascha McElhone For the car chase in France with Robert De Niro pursuing Natasha McElhone as Deirdre: an IRA operative which is working for somebody else.
