Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WWE WrestleMania Backlash 16/05/2021 Match 6/Part 6/Conclusion by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Warning: there are flashing effects/colourful effects

Background information: there is this video package of how we got to this point and a scene with Heyman, Reigns and Jey Uso, just before Reigns with Heyman make their entrance where everything doesn’t seem to be okay between these two real-life cousin’s.

Match/Stipulations: “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro vs. the WWE Universal Champion "The Tribal Chief" Roman Reigns [with his Special Counsel Paul Heyman:] Singles Match for the WWE Universal Championship

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 10/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 7/10

On Commentary: Raw of; Pat McAfee & Michael Cole 5/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 6/10

Recommend Watch: 8/10

Match Total: 43/60 - this match is good

Comments: I am getting the feeling of déjà vu here; in one way or another it has to be said they really, really took the shine off this match. What with Cesaro being the only one out of these Men's individual main rosters/main event picture Championships not to be given a segment in any capacity to build him up in the slightest, yes individually The Usos [Jimmy or Jey Usos] put across Cesaro is a threat to their real-life cousin's Reigns Championships reign [in the case of Jey he does it accidentally in the background information section] and just to cover my back Lashley's manager MVP does an interview with [Kevin Patrick] so all I'm saying here is Lashley is covered so Cesaro it is very much a case of the WWE hierarchy telling us these two things; 1, he isn't winning so why bother giving him the screen time [I think a very high percentage of us knew Cesaro wasn't winning anyway,] but you know it would have been great if they actually put some effort into not telegraphing that. 2, the fact that the hierarchy of this company see very little value in Cesaro which let's be honest for 90% of his time with the WWE he has been the worst kept secret in all of professional wrestling [I never liked his first gimmick of being basically really intelligent, I know it is a classic model of being a Heel.] But when you have someone which is a fundamentally sound wrestler, they don't need a goofy gimmick be it Babyface or Heel, you just need to give them a solid gimmick and strap a rocket to their back and have them circulate between the mid-card and the main event picture that is it. The commentary is purposefully designed to put over Reigns more; it very much begins from the entrance of Cesaro  which it is the usual stuff from the commentary table going with the tinplate building up  for Cesaro like; we have McAfee saying in Cesaro's entrance the following "His potential has always been there, he's been flying at its highest altitude for the last few weeks. Ever since wrestlemania, the hottest Cesaro we have seen, the biggest night of his life. With Cole responded "Will it pay off in this match?" I refer back to the worst kept secret in all of professional wrestling, Cesaro standards of wrestling and consequently matches doesn't drop he gives you 100% quality every single time; he makes his opponents look better for having a match with him regardless of the booking decision.

and Reigns entrance with Heyman then Cole makes reference to Paul Heyman bringing up this statistic on the previous SmackDown of how many times Reigns has been in World Championship matches; Reigns 39 [40 now] to Cesaro 0 [1 now.] Then we have McAfee really selling Reigns talent [I am just shortening it] calling it "Generational and being dominant in this business as soon as he stepped in it."

I know McAfee has been probably told to say these things but just based on what he has said he does know how the wrestling industry works on its most basic level right? As in booking and all that, apologies if I have shattered kayfabe for you here.

Don't get me wrong I get away why Heyman and Cole made reference to this statistic because it is storyline building 101, but I can't be the only one thinking “Man that was a dumb move to make reference to those statistics." Because it reminds us and shows us how exposed the main event pictures have been for many years or how much Mr McMahon wanted Reigns to be the next guy to carry his company for years to come. I mean to have 40 matches [at the age of 36 when this blog was first dictated;] should tells you everything about the main event pictures and I hasten to add this is nothing against Reigns I am simply talking about the hierarchy of this company and its lack of creative imagination.

Moving on then in short at one point or another we have Cole or McAfee making reference to Reigns wanting to do this on his own, but in fairness and balance at least McAfee acknowledges Heyman is at ringside when he says his first but not the second version.

Now let's say we have McAfee and Cole individually or together building up/putting over Reigns in this match slot and then they do it for Cesaro, but is it me or doesn't McAfee and/or Cole sound like they are just reading a 90% tinplate of things to say about Cesaro.

This is speculation on my part, mixed in with how I hear it and how I see it unfortunately this echoes my earlier sentence about the hierarchy of this company see very little value in Cesaro. Because basically they have/had designed this match slot, so yes Cesaro looks a top-notch class wrestler as he always does, but they really didn't want him to look better for having this match and to back up my opinion; they could have had Cesaro have his moment in the sun, you know as he very much deserves it with basically standing up after some time looking worse for wear, but stands up in the middle of the ring and shows his appreciation to the WWEThunderDome in attendance and slowly walks back to the back; end of this pay-per-view. But no without giving too much away they went with what they went with to send a subliminal message not once but twice of basically Mr McMahon giving us the "Stone Cold" Steve Austin two fingers salute. But I don't think actually everyone knows Mr McMahon doesn't look at the bigger picture and in this case as it relates to Cesaro we have now seen him in the main event match I don't know about everyone else, but it has just confirmed but even more crystal clearly he is a main event player and Champion wherever he is in this company or outside it.

Basic Result:  the WWE Universal Champion "The Tribal Chief" Roman Reigns [with his Special Counsel Paul Heyman] Retains his WWE Universal Champion

This pay-per-view receives: 4/10, this pay-per-view is mixed; I don't know how anybody can sit through any of the main rosters content after watching this pay-per-view. [I am not trying to take anyone else's enjoyment away from this pay-per-view, if you did get enjoyment from watching this pay-per-view, all the power to you.] I mean the constant selling, advertising [ yes I am not that stupid I know, this is speculation on my part mixed in with an educated guess, but they are probably contractually obligated to do so for that sweet, sweet money or/and building up matches/feuds in fact just to cover my back it would be much, much, much easier and quicker if I was just to say everything but the physical side of the wrestling can go or needs to go [I mean on a quick bit of research I can't give this pay-per-view anything less on its marking, because on a little bit of research 5 out of 6 matches are at minimum positive] in short in the words of Seth Rollins' ring entrance "Burn it down!" And like the Phoenix build the main rosters product up from those ashes.

I mean I am not being a gatekeeper here, but I can really understand why people are pining for the old eras of wrestling; it has very little to do with the wrestling, it has so much more to do with the WWE main rosters product on the whole minus as I have already said the wrestling, this pay-per-view has hardly been a joy to watch And I am just happy to get through it, that is why I am very happy with AEW, they may not get everything right; but at least they try to make things fun.

The highest ranking match on this card based on Attributes that we see would be: "The Queen" Charlotte Flair vs. "The Empress of Tomorrow" Asuka vs. the WWE Raw Women's Champion "The Nightmare" Rhea Ripley: Triple Threat Match for the WWE Raw Women's Championship with 53/60.

The lowest ranking match on this card based on Attributes that we see would be: The Miz [with John "Drip Drip" Morrison] vs. "The Archer of Infamy" Damian Priest: Lumberjack Match with 20/60.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WWE WrestleMania Backlash 16/05/2021 Match 5/Part 5 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Warning: there are flashing effects/colourful effects

Background information: in short a congratulations to Belair for retaining her WWE SmackDown Women's Championship from this Interviewer [Kevin Patrick] and then moves on to interview MVP on this upcoming match which is coming up imminently. Then we switch over to see McIntyre looking intense and over this scene Graves doing more building up of this match via his headset/commentary position, then we have this graphic of these two contenders one on the left and one on the right with the WWE Champion in the middle [with him holding/over his right shoulder] with WWE WrestleMania Backlash words/logo on the right hand side with red electricity circling these three characters/performers with Virk talking over this graphic via also his headset and the commentary table to basically introduce this video package of how we got to this situation.

After this match slot we have a public service message from about getting a COVID-19 vaccine/vaccinations and then a advertising/commercial about the next WWE pay-per-view WWE Hell In A Cell streaming exclusively on Peacock and finally we have Cole and McAfee selling the carnage of a spot in the previous match [this match] and what a surprise selling the next upcoming WWE pay-per-view WWE Hell In A Cell on with a big width still advert advertising this pay-per-view and the date Sunday, June 20 7E/4P streaming on Peacock [exclusively so says Cole] with this ominous angle [as if we were to look up standing at one of the corners/angles of this man made/person made structure of this Hell In A Cell with this dark orange and light orange sky.] You see I have a point to why I am going into this in great detail and my point is this; we are having three advertising strategies being used in such a short time here and it is just really dumb, excessive, smells of desperation and on top of that it is massively disrespectful to their Universe/fan base/viewing audiences, because how much they would like us to have memories like goldfishes this is not the case.

Match/Stipulations: "The Scottish Warrior" Drew McIntyre vs. "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman vs. the WWE Champion "The All Mighty" Bobby Lashley [with MVP:] Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 6/10

On Commentary: Raw of; Corey Graves, Adnan Virk & Byron Saxton 6/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 6/10

Recommend Watch: 6/10

Match Total: 38/60 - this match is good

Comments: in one way or another it has to be said they really, really took the shine off this match; be it over building this match throughout this pay-per-view [don't get me wrong, I get why they did build up things before this; this is a fundamental component of wrestling storyline telling.] But because of the overkill nature it had this adverse effect of when it comes to this actual match I am leaning much more towards meh not interested and they have turned this match into a chore mixed in with a little bit of boredom as well; instead of as this match should have been built as the clash of these titans even though it was 100% obvious who was going to take the pin here; In-depth Predictions/Other elements for WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021 Link  https://averagemansreviews2017.blogspot.com/2021/05/in-depth-predictionsother-elements-for.html in short even though it was 100% obvious you still want to watch it for what it is, but however they slowly but surely took my interest out of this match.

Moving on this piped in audience reaction is incredibly obvious/off-putting in this match on reflection it has just come to me that they have been using it for this entire pay-per-view; consequently it does the crowd participation and in ring performers great disservice, because the crowd are naturally giving their response which is what you want, but this manufactured crowd response sticks out in this match slot, because either way when the crowd gets loud or goes slightly quiet [they are still engaged] and then they pick up again you can still hear this manufactured garbage. So as it relates to the Crowd Participation category being 6/10, this is nothing against them, it is just this manufactured as I have already said garbage I have a big problem with. Because you want everything to be as natural as it can be in this simulated combat, but the WWE are in essence dictating to their crowd how they want them to respond, which I will use this old WWE expression "You buy a ticket; you have a right to boo or cheer who you want, without you, we wouldn't be here." [I hasten to add 95% within reason.]

Then finally we have Virk saying something on commentary which I have already discussed once in this pay-per-view already. Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WWE WrestleMania Backlash 16/05/2021 Match 1/Part 1 - Spoiler Alarm! Link   https://averagemansreviews2017.blogspot.com/2021/07/pay-per-view-rewind-of-wwe-wrestlemania_3.html and in short I was patient and understanding once, but not twice once again it is just phoney enthusiasm when he says "Woah Bobby Lashley comes out of nowhere, Bobby Lashley with a Spear; The Spear, The Spear Lashley with the cover, the all mighty remains as Champion." [Full disclosure I am like 90% sure Virk says "The Spear" twice, but the subtitles only pick it up once; but either way to cover my back I will apologise.] Now on a little bit of research I have just discovered Virk only lasted 43 days with the WWE after leaving with mutual consent, which I don't find this surprising in the slightest you have to have something to offer in some capacity whilst you're in all on this or any commentary position in the wrestling industry and if you don't have something to offer you will get quickly found out.

Basic Result: I know already said the result, but I still have to do the admin; the WWE Champion "The All Mighty" Bobby Lashley [with MVP:] Retain his WWE Championship

SAS: Red Notice 2021 by AverageMansReviews

SAS: Red Notice 2021 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time

Warning/Disclaimer: there are flashing effects/colourful effects/stabbing/shooting/breaking of bones/choking/suffocation/strangling/medical/terrorism.

Now just to cover my back if anyone connected to this film or any other film or projects, has a dark cloud hanging over them at any point, for any reason and if I want to leave a subject alone that is at my discretion. I am just here to discuss this project or other projects if I want to leave a subject alone in a review or any content I am free to do so or likewise if I want to make reference to it or discuss it at some point in the future I am free to do also.

Storyline/Characters/Performances/Comedy: at some point or points these components combined in one way or another; all of these components are like 97% generic; the storyline it is most definitely something you have seen before. Basic description; this train from London to Paris through the Channel Tunnel gets hijacked in the tunnel, by this unit of armed and highly trained mercenaries [by the name of Black Swans led by Grace Lewis/Rose which has recently had the honour past down from her father William Lewis/Wilkinson; he had to choose a family member successor to their empire/business/operation; he had the choice between her or his son/her brother Oliver "Olly" Lewis/Yeoman and he made the decision to go with her, because she is a better version of him.

But back here and now what she didn't foresee was SAS Buckingham/Heughan and in his girlfriend or fiancee [we don't know the status of their relationship] Dr. Hart/John-Kamen being on this train heading to Paris. The pacing of this project really, really doesn't help things either; this film roughly goes on for 119 minutes and to be honest they could have cut at least 30 minutes of this film off or out, I don't care what they do with it does make it disappear. Because as things are this film just ambles along at no great speed, basically it needs a rocket up its posterior which in hindsight leaves these characters, character developments and performances high in dry; based on the grounds if they gave this film a lot more get up and go to it; it wouldn't have left these characters, character developments and performances so exposed; shorter film would have potentially covered up any shortcomings or in this case the generic nature of things. On top of that we have this really infuriating ending because on one hand after roughly 119 minutes this is the best they could come up with and on the other hand they have left it wide open for a sequel and when I say wide open I mean if they don't come out with a sequel it makes this film a complete waste of time. Which I hope they do because I have done my time with this film and I deserve to see a sequel [just for the record I am fully aware that the film industry doesn't work this way,] but again in hindsight they could have just put this film and the potential sequel into one film.

Yes I did say that all of these components are like 97% generic, but there is Clements/Serkis is a very high ranking officer in his field and in British intelligence as he is Prime Minister Atwood's/Panthaki right-hand man on this line Black Ops operation and yes he is everything that you come to expect from character type, including being serious and conical at the same time, basically Clements/Serkis is somebody that has been around long enough not to care and just says it as it is; so if you wanted a positive reason to watch this film Clements/Serkis is it.

Action/Art: the action is something safe and reliable and the art is another  positive and it consistently beautiful with scenery such as mountains and so on right at the beginning of the film [I think it is in Hungary; to be a little bit more precise its capital Budapest, I say I think because I couldn't read the white text on clashing colours in the background, I am dyslexic, so I did some research on this film and is said that they began filming in Budapest, so as they started filming here and these scenes are right at the beginning of the film common-sense dictates we are in this country and the London Eye in the capital of England sometime after that.

This film receives: 3/10, this film is poor; I mean don't get me wrong if this film didn't have these issues which I have spoken about as in the ending, lack of get up and go and the time length of roughly 119 minutes; this film would be getting given something higher, but I can only take film or projects or other things as they are so this mark is a fair outcome and for those that have seen this film I know there is a drop of Action/Comedy between SAS Buckingham/Heughan and Dr. Hart/John-Kamen, but it is only a  moment of comedy and it didn’t seem much point connecting these components for one moment, having said that I have just mentioned it here just in case someone comes back to me and says “You didn’t mention this moment.”

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe [Season 2,] Episode 100: The Greatest Show on Eternia by AverageMansReviews

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe [Season 2,] Episode 100: The Greatest Show on Eternia by AverageMansReviews

5 things about this episode

Warning: there flashing effects/other effects/transformation

Moral message: in short when you find something you want to do, do yourself a favour and learn the necessary skills and really practice and you will be surprised how good you can be.

Skeletor escapes with a bang: we have the Action, Art and Comedy combining here; now Skeletor is trying to find an escape route out of this situation he finds this little tent inside this Big Top Tent [Crackers the Clown's Circus has come to Eternia,] he makes this circle energy being with his finger to illuminate where he is; he wonders out loud "What are these?" Which Prince Adam/He-Man standing inside this Big Top Tent; he informs Skeletor "They are firecrackers and I wouldn't touch them if I was you." Which of Skeletor responds with "How dare you tell me what to do I have had enough of your interfering He-Man."At the same time of giving this response and not concentrating he accidentally with his illuminated energy circle he sets off these firecrackers and fireworks as he turns his head with facial expression to realise what he had just done with saying "Oh No!" With these firecrackers and fireworks getting ready to go off, the next second we see/hear Skeletor yelling out and taking a ride on this big red firework rocket that rips a whole in this Big Top Tent then explodes with Prince Adam/He-Man and Teela watching the fireworks with a smile on their faces.

Skeletor's firework explodes with him plummeting back to the ground, but don't worry he gets a little bit of luck kind of; as he rebounds off this drum, so on a positive note he doesn't hit the ground; he is safe and sound but then again he rebounds off this drum thrown through this wooden fencing headfirst and consequently through this poster on the other side to replace this animal's head on the other side; with screams of frustration and anger; because he is trying to get himself out of this hole using his hands and legs to pull his head back through the hole, but he is stuck there the subjects of Eternia are watching him screaming.

This episode receives: 7/10, this episode is good; we get the standard kind of things from Orko and this isn't the usual high standards of ground shaking of evilness from Skeletor in this episode either, but it does have many good things to offer its viewers as well.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WWE WrestleMania Backlash 16/05/2021 Match 4/Part 4 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Warning/Disclaimer: there are flashing effects/colourful effects. Disclaimer I am not or never likely to be a professional wrestler.

Background information: I am so passed bored with either the background building up of matches, we have Strowman warming up for his match tonight; but we have Graves' building up him and the match tonight against McIntyre vs. the WWE Champion Lashley [with MVP:] Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship, then we have Jimmy and Jey Usos [The Usos] a discussion segment, followed by Pat McAfee & Michael Cole advertising is pay-per-view sponsor in one way or another and for the life of me I cannot remember what it is ... ... I can't remember ... Oh yes it is 2021 Netflix film Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas. It isn't like you have been shoving that down our necks throw the entire night already [and yes I did get it mixed up with Army of the Dead 2021. Then we have McAfee promoting the theme song for this pay-per-view, but wait we have more they move on to talk about this upcoming match right here with this video package as well; then after this match slot we have advertisements/commercials about The WWE Network being on Peacock And then new content being on their as well of icons: R.V.D.

I mean I am not stupid and yes this is speculation on my part so I could be completely wrong, they are probably contractually obligated to mention or advertise this film in some capacity including separately theme song for this pay-per-view as well. I know I have said something to this effect already as it relates to this pay-per-view and likewise Peacock, but all of this background information/other things is just too much and they should scale it back; make things a variety instead of ramming everything down our throats, because it consequently it is just destroying my interest in this pay-per-view; it is becoming more and like a chore.

Match/Stipulations: "The O.G" Bayley vs. the WWE SmackDown Women's Champion "E.S.T." Bianca Belair: Singles Match for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 7/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 7/10

On Commentary: SmackDown of; Pat McAfee & Michael Cole 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 6/10

Recommend Watch: 6/10

Match Total: 40/60 - this match is good

Comments: as you can see this match is good, but it does have problems; Disclaimer: I am not a professional wrestler and never likely to be, but there seems to be an botch on a tilt-twirl sidewalk slam [starting where Belair with being face down on Bayley's shoulders;] it looks like Bayley gets a little too much rotation in the transition phase of this move and it collapses, so the viewers get this sound of two individual people hitting the mat instead of in unison [ Belair on the mat and Bayley landing on Belair; when you come to this spot you will hear the sound I am talking about.] Now unintentionally or intentionally we McAfee trying to cover this up on commentary by saying " it sounded like two there, two devastating shots from Bayley on Bianca." Good try their McAfee, but there is what we call in the wrestling business a botch not two devastating moves.

Now right at the end there is another botch and without giving too much away; Belair let's go of Bayley's leg. I get what they were trying to do here, by making it look like a kind of dusty finish pin-fall, it gives Bayley as a Heel; a little of protection from the loss even though for those people that have seen this match I know she is the instigator, it looks like they were trying to work it so she has a reasonable argument for a rematch for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship sometime down the line. But this is another occasion where in this match is something momentarily gives away and there is a very small window for Bayley to kick out, in fact we have Cole says selling the feuding/dusty finish with "Did Bayley kick? No Belair got the win."

Basic Result: I know I have given the basic result always already, so I am just doing the admin here; the WWE SmackDown Women's Champion "E.S.T." Bianca Belair Glen Retains her WWE SmackDown Women's Championship here. This would be the first time I have seen Belair's in-ring work and there is lots to like about her, but I do think she needs a really in-depth feud with somebody new to establish herself properly and likewise who she is feuding with and the same can be said for the current WWE Raw Women's Champion Nikki A.S.H. [I know she hasn't had a feud yet,] but we may as well do this to both main roster Women's individual Championships and their Divisions at the same time, by doing a hard reset but we may have to wait a little time to do this [The 2021 WWE Draft will be happening sometime soon hopefully. I have very much given up on any form of Tag Team Championships and their Divisions regardless of gender and this company on the main rosters.]

5 things about this episode

Skeletor's Havoc Staff sees all: we have the Character [Character developments,] Action, Comedy and Art combining here a Skeletor gets informed by Whiplash that there are tracks [footsteps and things of that nature] so Skeletor comes up with the idea to use his Havoc Staff to show them who was here; so he twirls it above his head and makes it go round and around using his far arm/hand. Trap Jaw says "I-I didn't know you could do that!" [Still twirling his Havoc Staff around his head with these pale orange flame within these flames are these many yellow stars coming out of this ram's skeleton skull;] with a very quick and snappy, comical comeback of "I could write a book about what you don't know! This episode receives: 9/10, this episode is excellent; now on the positive side of things first this episode has many things to offer, but on the not so positive side of things is this character Drak. I get his purpose for being in this episode and he fulfils that purpose and I do get is grandfather trying to protect him from the devastation that Skeletor can bring until a certain point in this episode, but Drak can little bit irritating [you will get what I mean when you come to watch this episode; you will understand his perspective and purpose in this episode but still he can be a little bit irritating nonetheless.]
