Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful
effects/shooting/stabbing/cutting/decapitation/bodily waste/man on woman
violates/suicide/drugs
Storyline/Characters/Performances: these three components go hand-in-hand in one way or another.
Storyline; it is a parody of Scream [1996] and I Know What You Did Last Summer
[1997] with other little parodies in the mix as well [I will use a maximum of
three other parodies in this review] and just a friendly heads up there is one
scene during the closing credits and one after the closing credits, but I
digress it also takes the Character types/Character developments from these
films also and they makes their own versions; so including the on-screen
chemistry this is all good as well.
Action/Comedy: these two components consistently go hand-in-hand also; we have
our lead character/performer Campbell/Faris in combat with Scaryface, where at
some point she performs this infamous mid-air kick [from The Matrix 1999 film
title; now if you want me to be a little bit more specific the mid-air
kick I am referring to is where off the top of my head Trinity/Moss performs
this kick; goes up in the air time freezes the camera rotates to a different
perspective and then real-time kicks in and she performs this kick and comes
back down; full disclosure I haven't seen this film for a while so I could be
slightly wrong but regardless the reference is correct just maybe not in the
right order.] But back to the Scary Movie whilst Campbell/Faris is in mid-air
before coming back down she decides to perform the Irish dance known as The
River Dance in fact Ghostface whilst on the floor facing her lying down decides
to participate in this as well and a little while later they decide to bring
out another Matrix 1999 reference where back in this film to defend against
something quickly someone like it Anderson/Neo/Reeves or anyone like him can
perform these rapid movements to dodge out of the way. But Ghostface will show
you what happens when you may not be exactly the fittest to perform this move
as he performs this like limbo move to move out of the way of what is being
thrown at him, but his back jars in this position, so he has to go over to this
couch to resort the problem.
This film receives: 7/10, this film is good; I mean this film was released when this
genre of film standards were good and this genre wasn't crammed full of
generally speaking poor film projects [ for some strange reason roughly around
the early 2000's the film industry/Hollywood in their infinite wisdom decided
to ram these types of films down our throats, but once again generally speaking
most of them weren't of positive viewing.] But let's be positive for here and
now this project has a good balance to it on all aspects so this mark is the
right outcome and it has a grand total of 13 Awards to its name [7 Winners
which just for one example; Blockbuster Entertainment Awards 2001; Blockbuster
Entertainment Award; Favorite Supporting Actress - Comedy Cheri Oteri. 6
Nominations likewise just for one example; MTV Movie + TV Awards 2001;
Breakthrough Female Performance Anna Faris And one final thing this film is it
part of popular culture in this timeframe as well, because there is a telephone
sequence where this expression was born "WAZZZZUP!"
quick description; you’ll know when you come across this sequence because
whomever after picks up the phone; after Ghostface and Shorty/Marlon Wayne is users this
expression; in fact Budweiser took this and slightly adapted it from having
some bud to having a bud it ran from 1999-2018 [with its 20th Anniversary in 2018] I have just done a little bit more research they had many adverts/commercials around the same individuals or
different adverts/commercials around the same expression.
