Review Time
Warning: there is flash effects/colourful effects/burnt
bodies/man on fire/medical procedure.
Storyline/Characters/Comedy/Performances: now in one way or another these four components go hand-in-hand; on
reflection the storyline is quite poor, because the ending is really
unsatisfying and it leaves this question-mark at the ending stages [that is as
much as I can say without giving too much away.] The pacing takes some time to
get going and sometime around the final quarter it really does begin to grind
down to its conclusion, it casually drops in that Sean McCaffrey/Anderson and
Jenny/Bell at some point choose to be in a relationship; yes when they first
meet they do have this good back and forth of which one has the more messed up
life; this is good comedy and good on screen chemistry. But they still have
missed out a lot of character building between these two characters/performers.
If the truth
was known these character developments, performances and on-screen chemistry
are mostly something generic; But now onto something which I can talk about
which is positive the on-screen chemistry between either Sean
McCaffrey/Anderson and this dog or Sean McCaffrey/Anderson and
Bartel/Sutherland, between these two pairings there is excellent and priceless
communication or dialogue exchanges, on screen chemistry and comedy and on a
quick side note; if I had to take one component away from this film it would be
this; that Donald Sutherland as Ronald Bartel still has IT and still has so
much to offer the film industry the person I was watching this film with said
"He is the best thing about this film." I would have to agree with
this individual, Bartel seems physically very vulnerable but mentally still
very much with it, as he talks about generally speaking and in a nutshell
seeing the Dragon as a beautiful thing, he can be individually intelligent or
comical or comical unhinged as well you never know what this character is going
to say next, but you play by his rule which is question for a question.
Action/Art: these two components go hand-in-hand in this one sequence as Sean
McCaffrey/Anderson designs this simulated fire for an experiment.
Action
individually there is weapons being used, combat, explosions, chasing and
rescuing.
Art
individually there are these beautiful skies, this bridge with sky as well that
Sean McCaffrey/Anderson drives his vehicle over; these are good. But having
said that these flames effects in Sean McCaffrey/Anderson memories look very
cheap and very tacky and finally this dog looks very sweet and lovable.
This film receives: 5/10, this film is mixed; without Donald Sutherland as Ronald Bartel,
this sequel would have been looking at a lot lesser mark, so if there are any
fans of Donald Sutherland out there in Internet land take a look at this film,
but other than Sutherland I wouldn't expect too much.
