Executive Decision 1996 by AverageMansReviews

Executive Decision 1996 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is mixed.

Fundamental elements: there are voice-over elements, numbers and words on screen, cultural elements, mental imagery, quick moving effects, no subtitles when another language is being used, place jumps and time jumps.

The movement; I was thinking I should come back and point this out, now when I looked up this title, I found out it is roughly 132 minutes long and on reflection I think this is the only problem, meaning everything else is the standard for this kind of film [action/politics based] and don't get me wrong somewhere towards the later stages it does pick up, but other than that it does tend to drift along

Back stories/Storyline: the viewers get shown in one via mental imagery and told of another via a news report, the back stories and the storyline is straightforward.

Action sequences/Artistic visions: on both counts these two elements gives this project something to see or experience, be  it this transference sequence between this aircraft to this plane [even though this aircraft gets called an airplane, I am going to say it is aircraft, because of its design and technical capabilities] or how these characters/performers go around inside this plane without being seen for 85% of the time, yes there are weapons being used, combat and other actions sequences. Moving on to the artistic visions, putting these weapons together, the sky sequences are full of colour; they are easy to notice including the flying aircraft of any type in them or looking through any aircraft sight or that kind of technical bits and pieces, including this bomb or looking through these infrared goggles.

Comedy level: there are comedy elements in the dialogue exchanges

Character developments/Performances: the character developments are something safe and reliable, what you see is what you get and something similar can be said about the performances as well; from the perspective of they are just doing their job, there is chemistry and friction [depending where you are is; depending what you get.] But I didn't find it useful when one character/performer was making a small comment to another character/performer quietly, whilst another character/performer was giving this monologue of useful information [I would have preferred this monologue was given the full focal point, I know this very tiny comment has a small piece of value, but still I would have preferred this monologue to been given the full focal point and this small piece of dialogue said in passing comment quietly or something to this effect.

This film receives: 4/10, yes I originally went for a different mark, but on reflection I didn't feel too comfortable with it, just because as you can see mostly throughout this review there are bits and pieces to work with or they are solid when it comes to watching this title.
