X-Men: Apocalypse 2016 by AverageMansReviews
Review Time: simply put let's just get this
review done shall we.
Fundamental core/Subtitles: now yes usually I
would normally bring up other elements and discuss them, but as it relates to
this project let's just take a simple straightforward approach [because I have
many things to say about this project in different areas.] The fundamental core,
I just don't like it whatsoever [time length of this film roughly speaking 144
minutes] and let's just say I felt every minute of this timeframe and on top of
this; the way this film moves from scene to scene or location to location or
anything really I couldn't settle down with this project in the slightest [it
took me maybe three different sittings to watch this film from beginning to
end, I kind of lost count how many stoppages I took,] but there is one thing I
know I can't sit through this project in one sitting [I did that at the cinema
and never again,] so I had to do bit by bit maybe go away and do something else
for a little while and then come back.
The
subtitles they are okay [if and when I could be bothered to read them,] but
there are some situations where either a character or some characters are
speaking another language and for some strange reason the subtitles are not
there, I will put it this way if you look closely but not too closely and you
are paying attention you will see what I am talking about, but to be fair it
doesn't happen that often.
Apocalypse: straight off the bat, this
character doesn't look right I cannot take him seriously, he doesn't have the
larger-than-life presence to him consistently throughout this project, how much
I don't want to say this; his stage presence is very average, his dialogue
exchanges, I was struggling to believe what he was saying and don't get me
wrong there are some dialogue exchanges where they were on the right track but
not believable enough [the only time the audience gets a taste of his true
abilities in full force is where we have Apocalypse vs. Professor Charles
Xavier -- the mind battle,] it is full of imagination and many other things
I hasten to
add the performer who is Apocalypse does well considering what I have just
pointed out, it is just this character is really complex or in other words, if
you don't get the basics right such as this enormous presence on screen, mixed
with fear, knowledge and other details including a physical appearance which
strikes fear mixed with a slight self-assured attitude of "I am Apocalypse
and I will not be denied." The result is what we see in this project and
yes there are moments where the audience sees his characters knowledge but
without his other elements his knowledge and dialogue exchanges really, really
don't have the same kind of impact.
Characters: before I begin this is just a
small selection of the characters used in this project. Storm [What was her
storyline element all about? She to my knowledge has never been a member of The
Four Horsemen. Magneto this will be the first of two times I will be discussing
this character, once again to my knowledge this character has never been a
member The Four Horsemen [anyone is welcome to tell me anything different on
these two characters.] Jean Grey all I have to say about this character is
this; are we really going to see this character again in the MCU [Marvel
Cinematic Universe] and just for the record if you think I am talking about
Jean Grey I am not I am talking about another character which we have seen in
the MCU before and it didn't go down too well in my opinion to be honest it was
rubbish [let's just say when Jean Grey unleashes her full power in this project
and the audience sees flames or something to that effect around her [it is a
massive hint to what is coming next in the follow-up film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix
2019.]
Quicksilver
I like everything that this character does in this project, his rescue sequence
is funny and entertaining, his dialogue exchanges are good and sensible with
comical elements in them from time to time. Eric Lensherr/Magneto and Professor
Charles Xavier now I have lots of time for these two characters and performers,
their dialogue exchanges are always something I look forward to [it doesn't
matter if it is Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier and Ian McKellen as Eric
Lensherr/Magneto or nowadays James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier and
Michael Fassbender as Eric Lensherr/Magneto,] their chemistry and dialogue
exchanges are beautifully complex and in this project these two characters
don't disappoint me, even when Magneto joins Apocalypse in this project his
personality traits, stage presence among the many other things are strong
enough to give off the impression ["Yes I may be with these individuals,
but I am still the master of magnetism."]
Weapon X/Logan: this action
sequence is lots of fun.
This film receives: 30% approval, yes
it is very true I really don't like this film, but to be fair it does have some
good elements to it, but just not enough of them.
