Iron Man 3 2013 [alternative name Iron
Man Three] by AverageMansReviews
Review Time: this film is mixed to good.
Voice-overs/Time jump/Dream/Fundamental core: now
before I begin I want to say this; if there is anything I have missed out in
this review, it is because of two reasons the first being I have a lot to say
and the second being I don't discuss every element in every project I review
anyway [because I don't like giving everything away and it gives me some leeway
if I forget some details.]
The
voice-overs [from our lead characters perspective] are used now and again in
this third title, it begins with some scenes of Iron-Man's suits being heavily
damaged, [the voice-overs elements will be explained why they are being used in
a sequence after the closing credits.] Moving on using the voice-overs and the
time jumps this film goes back to 1999 Bern, Switzerland, New Year's Eve
[numbers and words on screen at different points] with our lead role still
doing voice-over now and again throughout this sequence of events, some scenes
later the film moves forward into the present day [words present day and Malibu
California with a little bit of voice-over whilst changing from the previous
scene into this scene.] Dream, I just put this element in this review so I
could point out there are some mental imagery in this project.
The fundamental
core to this project is a little bit hit and miss, I don't know how to describe
it other than that really, because there are sometimes where this film feels
really on the ball and happy in knowing what to do next, but there are some
other occasions where it does feel a little bit sticky as it need some time to
find its rhythm again [this cycle does repeat itself again and again.]
TV/News reports/Messages: I like these elements they are
something interesting or as it relates to the messages [from the Mandarin they
are great] and on a side note don't worry we will be discussing the Mandarin at
some point throughout this review, but for now let's try and be positive.
Action sequences: these elements are highly
entertaining, be it the falling sequence from Air Force One [where Tony
Stark/Iron-Man has to go and rescue these people from falling and he needs
their help to help him to rescue all of them] or the many Iron-Man suits
fighting in this big action sequence or the many other action sequences you can
see in this title.
Tony/Pepper/James/Happy/Harley/Maya/J.A.R.V.I.S./Bruce: these
are the characters in this project that I can happily watch or listen to from
beginning to end of this title. The chemistry between the returning characters
and their individual character developments have been really well updated as to
illustrate that time has past between film titles, moving on to the newcomer
Maya, she does a very good job fitting into this cast [this is why I am finding
it difficult to give this project a suitable percentage of approval, because
there are many good points to this project, but the downsides to this project
are big and just for the record I can put up with the fundamental core being a
little bit hit and miss.] Before somebody points this out yes it is always a
great pleasure to see Stan Lee somewhere in these projects, look for a Pageant
Judge in this title.
Not the Mandarin: I have two rhetorical questions before
I begin this paragraph properly how and why did they mess around with this
character so much? I mean the real Mandarin is a great character with a big
name in this role [I stress kind of and I am trying not to give too much away,]
but for those people that have seen this project I am aware that the Mandarin's
character has a different name and different personality traits in this film.
But I am speaking
from the perspective of what should have been an easy touchdown to win a Super
Bowl, this big name as the Mandarin, but what we got instead was fumble after
fumble and turnover after turnover. The Mandarin is big enough of a character
to have his own film title and on a side note Aldrich Killian is okay and that
is about it.
This film receives: 63% approval, now let's be fair I have
highlighted many good points, but the Mandarin/Not the Mandarin and Aldrich
Killian are big downsides to the point, where it is 2017 when this review was
dictated and this film came out in 2013 and I went to watch it at the cinema
and I only watched it again so I could do this review.
