Blade 1998 by AverageMansReviews

Review Time: this film is good.

Origin storyline/Storylines/Fundamental core/Subtitles: the origin storyline elements are lazy if I was to be honest, all the audience sees is this childbirth and then this big time jump and then some time later in the film we get to see/hear Whistler telling another character about Blade's background [basically a little bit more about his origins.] Now generally speaking the storyline is okay and it does make sense, but the fundamental core to this project is a mixed bag, no really at the beginning stages I can only describe it as a disjointed mess, but something strange happens and I don't know when this happens, but when the fundamental core pulls itself together, this film feels much better as if everything suddenly slots into place [it is like somebody turning on a light switch that is how sudden it is.]

Moving on to the subtitles they are okay-ish meaning they are of decent size and white, but throughout most of this project when they get used I have always found them to be boring and I don't think I have ever read them, but near to the end of this project there is this dialogue exchange in a different language and there is a moment where this other language is still going on but there are no subtitles [I have replayed this scene or sequence at least four times just to make sure and if you pay attention there are no subtitles when this other language is being used, just before  Blade speaks in this other language and yes there are subtitles by this point.]

Action sequences: now when this film pulls itself together, the action-packed sequences feel much better as in they have a real identity about them with plenty of weapons being used, body parts coming off and many other things.

Cast: this cast all put in likable performances especially Snipes as Blade and Kristofferson as Whistler, the viewers can sense that these two characters have a unique connection to one another [yes there are some occasions where the audience sees it and hears it.] I feel comfortable suggesting that their relationship is really in-depth, because as I have already said the viewers can sense the relationship between these two characters so sometimes it feels like a Father and Son relationship [I must stress if the Father was of the mental age of 75 years old and if the Son had a mental age of 40 years old this kind of relationship.] But other times it could be of a Vampire Hunter and Weapons Designer just taking care of business.

This film receives: 68% approval, in a nutshell when this film decides to really get going it can be enjoyable to watch, but you may have to wait for it to warm up first.
