Blade II 2002 by AverageMansReviews
Review Time: I don't know what to think about this sequel,
other than this; it isn't in the same league as the previous film title that is
for sure [yes even though the previous film to this trilogy does have its
problems it is better than this title.] Before I begin this review properly I
should just point out that throughout any of my reviews I sometimes add or
withdraw different things to make my reviews different or at least fresh now
and again and as I have already said many times in different reviews, I don't
discuss every element of any project I review and yes there are some occasions
where now and again I speak about different elements in slightly the wrong
order as it relates to the film or project in question [but as long as it is in
the review and it roughly makes sense I tend to leave it where it is.]
Voice-over/Subtitles/Background music/Memory recall: at
some point in the opening stage to this sequel we have our lead role giving us
the audience this information whilst we have these scenes on screen [from the
previous film] at the same time. I am just going to come out and say it this
film could have done with some subtitles, because throughout this project we
have these characters switching between one language to another language and
there are no subtitles. The background music is really quite heavy and it makes
itself known consistently, I think there are some memory recall scenes [I say I
think because to be completely honest for the first 25 minutes roughly I was
getting bored so my interest in this sequel was getting less and less.]
But the
fundamental core at some point somehow begins to show life [I don't know when
this happens, it just suddenly happens.] Where this sequel pulls itself
together and makes this film move better which in turn makes this film become
interesting, but this sequel has to work really hard to get my interest going,
because as far as I'm concerned this title has to turn my interest from a
negative to a positive and as I have already said within the first 25 minutes
or so I was getting bored, so in a nutshell this film has to begin from a minus
and push forward hopefully gaining my interest throughout the rest of the film.
Snipes as Blade and Perlman as Reinhardt: now
the friction between these two characters/performers is the biggest positive to
this project by some distance, you see individually these two characters have
strong personality traits so when they go head to head on anything there are
beautiful sparks of great interest between these two characters/performers.
Action sequences: these elements are okay, there are
plenty of weapons being used, many things are happening in these sequences,
some feeding and some deaths.
This film receives: 38% approval, in a
nutshell I am not too keen on this sequel, I mean don't get me wrong this
sequel does have some good elements, but I did find this sequel hard work to
watch.
