Street Fighter 1994 by AverageMansReviews
Review Time: in a nutshell this film is good.
News reports/Cultural elements/Subtitles/
Fundamental core: the news reports are an interesting
way to begin this project and I think there are some more news reports
somewhere in this project. The cultural elements are clear to see so I don't
have to talk about them too much, moving on to the subtitles there is one scene
where we have three henchmen, two of them have a cigarette and one declines,
but there are no subtitles yet they are speaking a different language, while in
another scene we have some more characters speaking a different language and
there are subtitles, they are okay to read that is all I can say about them
really, it is one of those occasions where you think "What was the point
of that dialogue exchange really?" Yes for the record in this dialogue
exchange one of these characters points out that it may be important, but
without giving too much away it so isn't that important. The fundamental core
is okay, I mean it just gets on with things from beginning to end of this
title.
Science-fiction/Comedy level: the science-fiction elements are
interesting, I would feel comfortable suggesting that the usage of the
science-fiction elements, can be seen as a supporting storyline element [just
underneath the main storyline,] it can move something like this; main
storyline, then breakaway to see how this character is developing and then back
to the main storyline and then repeat this rotation throughout the film until
the character is completely changed [that is as much as I can tell you without
giving too much away] and there are other science-fiction elements, but for me
this would be the main science-fiction element to this title.
The comedy level,
it gets a no from me, yes I did giggle once or twice, but how can I put this;
the viewer or viewers are trying to take this film seriously, but it can be
difficult to take this film seriously when the comedy elements are in effect.
Action sequences/Combat sequences/
Training sequences: these elements are
good [if you are wondering where the training sequences are in this project,
they are where Zangief has given Ken and Ryu a change of clothing,] with some characters
training somewhere in these scenes [off the top of my head, I can't remember if
there are any other training sequences.]
Raúl Juliá as Bison and Jean-Claude Van Damme as
Colonel Guile: these
two performers have a great chemistry on screen with their dialogue exchanges
being of a very high quality throughout.
This film receives: 68% approval, now taking everything
into consideration this film is good, but it does have its problems as well,
like the comedy level is just a no and the character developments of some of
these characters are just annoying and there are many other things.
