year later: briefly; Thomas Taylor [Christian
Slater:] is a thief that after his last robbery went south, he took a year in
prison for his group of thief's on this job with him at the time, when he comes
out he goes back to a life of crime with some of the thiefs. Later on FBI Agent
Mark C. Cornell [Val Kilmer:] he is a crooked Agent so between him and his
partner they want the money, that Taylor and his unit stall in return Taylor
will get his daughter back.
Generally
speaking: the script and consequently the
framework and pacing of this 116 minutes film is really slow and it has very
little consistent get up and go to it; without giving too much away the script
is a mash up two storyline which on their own merit are of the solid varieties.
On one hand we have this kind of heist and the usual characters not trusting
one another type of thing and on the other hand we have this child kidnapping
storyline thing going on which I know impacts on the other storyline; but there
is very little fluency or cohesive nature between the two.
Action and art; well we have the usual guns and land
vehicles and those kind of things; but on reflection the only thing I can
highlight is a positive is the underwater action sequences as in this sequence
underwater everyone has diving equipment on; so from an action perspective or
an artistic perspective; this is good, but I know, I know this film was a
direct to DVD film release. But my point is; surely they could have spent a
little less money on the action sequences and more money on the green screen?
Because I have to be honest even for a direct to DVD film released they look
bad and for those people that know what I am talking about, I mean the point of
obviously looking bed; for a start you have these black line outlines which
really don't do this film any favours; it just looks likewise ugly as hell.
Character developments and performances; well broadly
speaking this character types and performances are fit for purpose and that is
it obviously Slater and a supporting role from Kilmer is worth noting as
whenever they are on-screen separately or together they keep things going.
This
film receives: 3/10, this film is poor; as I find
myself repeatedly indicating over recent released content if you like Slater
or/and Kilmer take a look at this film. But without being arrogant I would
recommend keeping in mind my marking of this film.
