Attempting to do the right thing comes with a heavy
price: briefly; Dr. William
"Will" Rodman [James Franco:] he works for Gen Sys Laboratories, he is currently
working on ALZ-112 [the potential cure to Alzheimer's disease,] which would
potentially save millions of people including his father Charles Rodman [John
Lithgow:] a loving father that used to be a music teacher, but clearly is
showing signs of cognitive issues of Alzheimer's disease. A scientific
breakthrough occurs when a chimpanzee is born with ALZ-112 in his system by the
name of Caesar [motion caption/voice performer by; Andy Serkis:] he is a
chimpanzee that quickly developed more they cognitive understanding of the
world around him and how he is to be treated alongside his brothers and sisters
of Ape kind.
Generally speaking: the framework pacing of this 105 minutes film is let's
be honest really slow to begin with, but it does slowly get better the more you
watch of it until much later on it takes on its own life and then these apes
are no longer servants to humankind; excellent atmosphere control when it comes
more and and more into play.
Art, character developments,
performances, motion capture and voice performance and action; as I have
already alluded to in the previous point when this film gets to the gradual
turning point and beyond. The viewers get to witness a slow progression of what
is coming as Caesar from an artistic perspective looks and feels as a real
pioneer/leader, how these apes communicate by sign language and other means of
communicating, from the human perspective they're all good character
developments and performances minus one individual as he put in an head and
shoulders everyone else performance John Lithgow as sadly via his character
Charles Rodman the reality of Alzheimer's disease and there is technically only
one other person that can match him for performance level and that would be
Andy Serkis as the driving force behind Caesar, if you have been around films
long enough you would know that characters like this are built for Serkis as he
has done a lot of motion caption performances with voice performances and
obviously he doesn't disappoint here, he makes Caesar a three-dimensional
character with multilayered and more importantly from a financial perspective
as Caesar he can carry this film for the foreseeable future [based on it being
2011 at this point in history,] I need to mention the other motion captain
performers, they also put in excellent work and finally the action sequences
are let's just call them overthrowing and in the words of Kaiser Chiefs I
predict a riot and very finally there is an extra sequence after the first
section of ending credits that you need to watch in its entirety/underneath the
second bunch of credits, you can miss the third and final ending credits;
without giving too much away sets things up for the potential sequel/sequel
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014.
This film receives: 8/10, this film is excellent; other than being a bit
slow to begin with this film sets this modern franchise on its way with an
excellent start for future instalments to hopefully carry on this high-quality
universe, because I usually mention is here I will just say it again there is
an extra sequence. This film also has awards accredited to it; such as 21
Winners that includes Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films,
USA 2012 Saturn Award Best Science Fiction Film and from the same award
ceremony/event Best Supporting Actor Andy Serkis. 43 Nominees that includes
Academy Awards, USA 2012 Oscar Best Achievement in Visual Effects Joe Letteri
Dan Lemmon R. Christopher White Daniel Barrett. Evening Standard British Film
Awards 2012 Evening Standard British Film Awards Blockbuster of the Year.
