Why didn't they just finish with
the third instalment in 2014?: In a
nutshell; Lee Christmas [Jason Statham:] he is second in command of The
Expendables, but he goes seeking revenge after someone that is close to him
dies, meantime his girlfriend Gina [Megan Fox:] she works for the CIA and with
other members of The Expendables and others to take care of something else.
Generally speaking: the storyline/script is garbage; it is wafer thin and
it doesn't hold all together at all. They may as well not have called or have
this title connected to this franchise, based on for a large amount of time
Christmas is doing his own thing which is much better than what the others are
doing, don't get me wrong at least what Christmas is doing solidly moves with
progression. I even had the person I watch some of these films with ask me;
what is happening? This individual is usually good at keeping up with the
storyline; but in this case I said this, that and the other including it isn't
a great surprise to me; why you have gotten lost with the storyline; it is
wafer thin. The framework and pacing of this 104 minutes film [which in
hindsight; this is a very generous time length; meaning they could have made
this and 85 minutes film and be done with it.]
Comedy
and Action; now for some reason we have this unnatural comedy tone in this film
from time to time; I mean there were two occasions where I laughed; the first
is where Christmas is beating the hell out of this content creator and the
second time was when we heard the track " P.I.M.P. by 50 Cent [Snoop Dogg
Remix] ft. Snoop Dogg, G-Unit" 2003 as we have this dead terrorist propped
up to drive this forklift with this song blaring out on this mobile stereo in
fact one of these terrorists shoots this stereo to stop this song. This joke
works on another level as well as we have Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as
Easy Day; he is ex-special forces and a new member of The Expendables. My
favourite action sequences would have to be Christmas on this motorcycle that
has been fitted with a gun system so we can take care of business and on the
move and on top of that we get a smidgen of art as we get to see from close-up,
you will have to pay attention as they are just moments or slightly longer than
moments.
Character
developments and performances; with in conjunction with the comedy it's one of
those sad occasions where, you know you have been with a franchise from the
very beginning and regardless if it comes out from the returning or the
newcomers or a mixture; this franchise just looks to be suddenly very old.
There are fleeting moments once again from the newcomers or returning
characters/cast members where deep down that is what we want to see, but it is
very fleeting or again a mixture. But if this is what they were going for from
the characters/performers; they got what they were going for here, but mostly
were talking about the most basic of character types
This film receives: 1/10, this film is poor; yes there were some positive
bits and pieces, but it is one of those counterbalance situations. Like the
person I watched this film said and I agree with I am happy I am now seen them
all. But this is just need speaking now even though this individual would
probably agree with me anyway; that I feel unless they wanted to begin this
franchise on an origins level, to see what they were like when they were
joining up then other than that just lay this franchise to rest now.
