This film was so boring: basically in a nutshell; Det. Logan McQueen [Director
of this project; Burt Reynolds;] is an old detective veteran that doesn't play
by the rules, but he is the number one suspect for this crime that he did not
commit. Det. Charlie Duffy [Charles Durnin:] is McQueen's partner and also
alongside his wife, completely changed McQueen's life for the better when he
was young. The Queen also has this attorney that would like to help him get off
these charges Myler [Mia Sara:] but she will not take any of McQueen's garbage,
DA Leo Barker [Billy Dee Williams:] that would like to throw Queen in prison,
as it would help as it is re-election time, but if there is a solid evidence
that proves he didn't do anything, then he will listen, but it has to be air
tight. Meanwhile Connie Martin [Robert Loggia:] want this money back that he
believes that McQueen stall from him and one of his senior henchmen goes by the
name of Randy [Roddy Piper:] without giving too much away but put a little bit
of substance here, Randy would like another crack at McQueen after their
previous altercation and for wrestling fans out there, I should give you the
common courtesy to point out he has a limited role in this film, meaning yes he
is in this film, but here and there to be fair but just not that often.
The framework and pacing of this 90
minutes film; well in theory it is something safe and reliable, but in reality
yes it may be something safe and reliable, but man it is just so slow that it
momentarily put me to sleep which will impact on my marking of this film that
is the sure.
Art: now
and again are some artistic visions in the scenery such as in the skies time
changing from the city lights or/and day to night or night to day; so these
bits and pieces are all good
Action: they
serve their purpose, you know not great, but they will do the job.
Comedy/Character developments and performances: there is this comedy elements between this detective
partnership and other little bits and bobs involving at least one of these
characters/performers with other characters/performers. The character types are
reliable versions of what they are meant to be and their performance reflects
that in their performances.
This film receives: 2/10, this film is poor; I mean against my better
judgement/on reflection I have decided to award this film another mark, because
as I have illustrated in one way or another it has some either solid things
about it or/some good elements about it. But as I have already also illustrated
it is so slow so if it had some or any get up and go to it; it would have been
given a higher mark and on top of that it doesn't really have a solid ending.
Now this is on a pinch of research,
but heavily speculated/opinion/educated guess based on how this one ends; this
film has two sequels Hard Time: The Premonition 1999 and then Hard Time:
Hostage Hotel 1999. To find out what happens with this case against McQueen, I
have to watch the sequel full disclosure I have seen a little like a picture of
sorts, but for here and now that would be it.
