The game is on: Uncle Rupert Horn's will offer's his only living
relative Montgomery Brewster [Richard
Pryor] this opportunity to spend $30 million in 30 days with sticking within
the rules he sets [for an example he can't tell anyone what is going on,] if he
achieves that he gets the rest which is $300 million if he fails he gets
nothing and this money will go to this law firm, on the other hand he could
take $1 million right now and this law firm would get the rest but Montgomery
tries to hit a home run to win the World Series and accepts the conditions of
this deal, he gets given a paralegal from this law firm's accounting department
to keep a track of his outgoings and receipts Miss Angela Drake [Lonette
McKee.]
The
pacing of this 104 minutes film is mobile to begin with, but it quickly runs
out of steam so it just ends up plodding along. The comedy likewise has the
same problem I mean throughout in one way or another we get these news reports,
what can I say; it is an excellent job that we have Richard Pryor as Montgomery
Brewster and John Candy as as Spike Nolan, one in lead role and the other as
best friend/teammate of the Baseball Minor League's Hackensack Bulls/supporting
role; they most definitely try to keep this film interesting, I mean all of
this cast in fairness and balance bring something to the table. It does feel
like they are all getting behind this boulder [a.k.a. this film trying to push
it up the hill.] We also have a dropped of art where we see this money in his
vault slowly disappearing chunk by chunk and for action there is baseball.
This film receives: 4/10, this film is mixed; this is one of those films
that has two legendary actors Prior and Candy and in the case of Prior
legendary and landscape changing comedian in it. But it hasn't and obviously
continues and I am not being woke [quick description of this word; social
justice warrior.] But I digress; age well, as we have a trio of Caucasian
characters which are on the average well off to more than likely wealthy trying
to screw over an African-American who is playing by the rules and let's just
say the ending is I am just going to say it as it is; is garbage. But to leave
this review on a positive note obviously if you are a fan of either one of
these individuals or both Richard Pryor and/or John Candy take a look at this
film, I just wouldn't expect too much.
