In-depth Predictions/Other elements for WWE WrestleMania 39/2023: Night 1 by AverageMansReviews

In-depth Predictions/Other elements for WWE WrestleMania 39/2023: Night 1 by AverageMansReviews

To be honest: there is so much about any of this Premium Live Event on either night I am not interested with, even though yes I don't watch any of the TV product I still have a rough idea of what is happening.

John Cena vs. Champ Austin Theory; Singles Match for the WWE United States Championship: my pick is Austin Theory. Yes let's be positive for five seconds this match should be good, but it is very much a case of Cena putting Theory over.

Seth Rollins vs. Logan Paul; Singles Match: my pick is Logan Paul. Stop me if you have heard this already; let's be positive for five seconds, this match should be good. But it should just be a case of putting Paul over, if will lead to believe what I have seen online over the last couple days; which has been these two things, the first being Paul's current contract is set to expire after this event and the second would be in a nutshell because I don't know if it is completely true or not, but whatever he is finding it difficult to get into wrestling shape which leads me onto my final point; if this is the case on these two points even if one or both are true why are we giving another part timer a valid spot on the most biggest event in wrestling? There is nothing to be gained from this match, now if you had said to me if you were to add the winner of these first two matches will be scheduled to go one-on-one on the first Raw after this event for the WWE United States Championship, I would say good move and an interesting stipulation because either outcome is something to look forward to on Raw.

Damage CTRL: Bayley, Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky vs. Trish Stratus, the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Lita & Becky Lynch; Six-Woman Tag Team Match: my pick is Damage CTRL: Bayley, Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky. Let's see if you can guess what I'm going to say next, well let's be positive for five seconds this match is going to be good. But it has been documented for some time Stratus is going to turn heel and on top of that you are aware that these women's tag team championships are the only ones not up for grabs over these two nights, that tells you everything you need to know about these championships and where they stand as it relates to the hierarchy regardless if it is the older regime or the relatively new one. To liven up this match/match slot what I would have added as a stipulation would have been a Ladder Match for these Championships where you could have had in a match context you could have had Bayley run interference for her stablemates and likewise for Stratus to do the same until she turns heel.

Braun Strowman & Ricochet vs. The Street Profits: Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford vs. Alpha Academy: Chad Gable & Otis vs. The Viking Raiders: Erik & Ivar [with Valhalla;] Men's WrestleMania Showcase Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Match: my pick is The Street Profits: Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford. Well they couldn't be bothered to put a No1 Contenders stipulation on this match for the WWE Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships and secondly The Street Profits: Angelo Dawkins & Montez deserve better, specifically Montez Ford, but if I had my way I would not split up The Street Profits just used them more as a tag team/pairing yes but also begin to use them as singles competitors like on Night 2 Montez Ford [with Angelo Dawkins] deserves to take on Brock Lesnar instead of what we are stuck with, but I will talk about that more on the second night, because if it isn't Montez Ford I have another two name in mind, but as I have already referenced we will discuss that when we come to that bridge and if this team win here maybe it is being used to soften the blow that they had nothing else better for them to do and foe the Alpha Academy: Chad Gable & Otis  I fully expect them to break up with Otis to turned his back on Gable to join The Maximum Male Model fully and yes this should be another good match

Rey Mysterio vs. The Judgement Day's Dominik Mysterio [with Damian Priest;] Singles Match: my pick is Dominik Mysterio. Now there has been speculation that Rey will retire after this match, so it has always been done that when a wrestler is going to retire they lay down to take the loss on their way out of in this case wrestling to put over the talent in question [it is also done when you could be just leaving a company,] but in this case it is leaning possibly to retirement. But if Ray wins here it could just mean he is bringing closure to this feud, but even I don't think he could miss this opportunity to end his career on the biggest stage in all of wrestling and put over his real-life son on the way out, but we will have to wait and see. By the way if you are keeping count this is the first genuine match worthy of being on a WrestleMania card.

The Judgemrent Day's Rhea Ripley vs. Champ Charlotte Flair; Singles Match for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship: my pick is The Judgemrent Day's Rhea Ripley. Anything other than this result and I will be fuming, because I remember the last time that these two wrestlers wrestled on the biggest stage of the more in wrestling WrestleMania 36/2020 and in a nutshell everyone knows including Ripley that what happened here completely derailed her and it took her some time to get back into a grove, so I would really appreciate it if they didn't attempt to do it again considering Ripley has been universally the best woman wrestler in the WWE for some time to the point where she is reaching Chyna levels of success and diversity she could and can throw down with the men, women or/and others. Yes this is another match/match slot that is worthy of being on this card.

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs. Champs The Bloodline's The Usos: Jey & Jimmy Uso; Tag Team Match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships: my pick is Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. Yes before I get deemed as being a sexist, I do believe that this will be the main event of the night, simply based on it is such a big story arc to finish on/begin the second night on that it needs to take the main event slot. Before I receive backlash, if this was just a basic match/slot I would have put Ripley vs. Flair for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship in the main event slot for sure, as I have already said this story arc of potentially the beginning stages of The Bloodline crumbling is too gigantic for this not to be the main event.

But now to finish up because I have a lot of things going on right now in one way or another. I might be a day or more behind watching the entirety of WrestleMania 39/2023. Don't get me wrong but there is only one of me and there are three Premium Live Events over the weekend including NXT: Stand & Deliver 2023 if you are interested in this event is earlier on the same night as this one and their card is from top to tail strong, so as you can clearly see it isn't like I won't be watching wrestling I just need another pair of eyes and I have other content to do at the same time.

In-depth Predictions/Other elements for NXT Stand & Deliver 2023 by AverageMansReviews

In-depth Predictions/Other elements for NXT Stand & Deliver 2023 by AverageMansReviews

Chase University: Andre Chase, Duke Hudson & Thea Hail & Tyler Bate vs. Schism: Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, Rip Fowler & Ava; Eight-Person Mixed Tag Team Match Winners gain control of Chase University: my pick is Schism: Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, Rip Fowler & Ava. Simply for 3 reasons 1. It would fit in with this stipulation of gaining control of Chase University and 2 and 3, they wouldn't have Ava [Simone Johnson the eldest child of Wayne "The Rock" Johnson] lose her first match and on top of that her first Premium Live Event Match.

The Creed Brothers: Brutus & Julius Creed [with Ivy Nile] vs. The D'Angelo Family:Tony D'Angelo & Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo vs. Champs Gallus: Mark Coffey & Wolfgang; Triple Threat Match for the NXT Tag Team Championships: my pick is Gallus: Mark Coffey & Wolfgang. This is purely speculation; with possibly Joe Coffey returning to level up the numbers not to cheat, but just to make sure that is fellow stablemates have a fair opportunity to retain their Championships and once again this is purely speculation, I have no idea of the health or status of Joe Coffey, but I am coming from the perspective of a big event/time to bring him back into the fold, you couldn't get any bigger than WrestleMania weekend.

Dragon Lee vs. JD McDonagh vs. Ilja Dragunov vs. Axiom vs. Champ Wes Lee; Fatal Five-Way Match for the NXT North American Championship: my pick is Dragon Lee. With similar reasoning as Ava from earlier I can't see him losing especially with the extra incentive of look AEW, Lee came over to us and we need him a champion straight away.

Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn vs. Champs Fallon Henley & Kiana James [with Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen;]Tag Team match for the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship: my pick is Fallon Henley & Kiana James [with Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen.] Just based on interference from individually or together their male counterparts, basically this feud must continue.

Zoey Stark vs. Gigi Dolin vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Indi Hartwell vs. Champ RoxannePerez ; Ladder Match for the NXT Women's Championship: my pick is Roxanne Perez. Basically this is all about storytelling and nothing more, Perez will win here, because if she doesn't this storyline doesn't work. It is like this; Perez comes back to defend their championship after dealing with her anxiety, it is designed to make her look like a big babyface them what she already is. Yes obviously they could have her lose, but they wouldn't do it here at this time, because even though I don't watch any of the TV programming even I know that the hierarchy see Perez as a big deal, they just want to reinforce the plucky underdog character layer on this WrestleMania weekend. In hindsight I did wonder why they didn't get Perez to vacate their Championship and now we know why.

Carmelo Hayes [with Trick Williams] vs. Champ Bron Breakker; Singles Match for the NXT Championship: my pick is Carmelo Hayes [with Trick Williams.] As this is WrestleMania weekend and Hayes gimmick is basically he is a big deal and big money, also Roman reigns will lose his Championships this weekend, it would seem logical and exciting to change both landscapes on the same weekend to have this new era within the WWE Universe.

But I feel I need to point out two points; the first being can we please have a believable dusty finish for Breakker to lose his championship obviously involving Williams. Secondly if Hayes doesn't win here, I will regard this as a identical situation to when the WWE had been building up to McIntyre defeating Reigns at WWE Clash at the Castle 2022 as in from the perspective of if Hayes doesn't defeat  Breakker when will he? Yes I have only seen Hayes and his gimmick with Williams perhaps a handful of times, but I have been around wrestling long enough to know when I can see a main eventer as long as when his time comes to go up to the main roster they keep Williams with him and don't give him/them a two-dimensional heel gimmicks, because the one they have between them in NXT is just printing money basically, they are a heel pairing, but they aren't complete heels, they know what they can bring to the table and they bring it, which makes them more at minimum as heels respectable and palatable, in a nutshell don't screw this opportunity up here or/and the future.

Grayson Waller vs. Johnny Gargano; Unsanctioned Match: my pick is Johnny Gargano. With a bit of sweet chin music from the NXT General Manager Shawn Michaels to just remind Waller who runs NXT, so this is why possibly the Unsanctioned Match and stipulation was put in place, so that HBK could come back for a spot of wrestling and it not being seen as a actual return based on it being unsanctioned, meaning it didn’t happen in the record books, even though we all know it happened or it may happen based on as this goes up it will still be a future possibility.

Updated information: this match was move to the Kickoff Show: Chase University: Andre Chase, Duke Hudson & Thea Hail & Tyler Bate vs. Schism: Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, Rip Fowler & Ava; Eight-Person Mixed Tag Team Match Winners gain control of Chase University.

Match/Stipulations: Harlem Heat: Booker T. & Stevie Ray [with Sister Sherry] vs. the WCW Tag Team Champions Bunkhouse Buck & "Dirty" Dick Slater [with Col. Robert Parker;] Tag Team Match for the WCW World  Tag Team Champions

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 5/10

Match Slot Storyline: 5/10

Crowd Participation: 5/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel" 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 5/10

Recommend Watch: 5/10

Match Total: 32/60 - this match is mixed.

Comments: well like the previous match slot; this is just an exercise in putting these championships from one place to another. But specifically for this match now; there were two tags from Booker T. to Stevie Ray which were not considered tags by the Referee [Nick Patrick] at the beginning of this match and yes just to cover my back the bell had sounded. Slater performs this atomic drop on Ray which it goes okay, but it is not convincing in fact all of these things I will be discussing here look okay and they get referenced on commentary they look okay but not convincing. Slater performs a piledriver on Booker T.

Moving on Slater performs this pinning opportunity but it takes Patrick to point out that T's shoulders are not down correctly on the first attempt and then following that Bunkhouse Buck performs this slam from a reversal, but I have to be honest it looks ugly/sloppy and basically what you are looking for is when Buck falls down during its as he is the one in control.

Basic Result: I know I have already indicated the result, but if you have been following me long enough you should know by now I am a stickler for admin, so your new WCW World Tag Team Champions are Harlem Heat: Booker T. & Stevie Ray [with Sister Sherry.]

Basic walk-through of this event:

* Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel": Commentary talk about what they had just seen over video replays with Harlem Heat the music by Rap Sheet.

* "Mean" Gene Okerlund: interviewer, interviews Bunkhouse Buck & "Dirty" Dick Slater [with Col. Robert Parker] about what just happened and then after the Col. tells his tag team to hit the showers he continues his interview by himself.

* Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel": Commentary on-screen Schiavone talk about what just happened again, what is remaining on this pay-per-view and advertising the next WCW pay-per-view Halloween Havoc 1995 with it coming on screen Schiavone advertising the date Sunday 29/10/1995 and call your local operator. With this pair appearing on-screen with Heenan being brought into the conversation talking about tonight's pay-per-view and the follow-up at Halloween Havoc and then Schiavone is building things up towards tonight's main event; WarGames in a nutshell between The Dungeon of Doom vs. The Hulkamaniace.

* "Mean" Gene Okerlund: interviewer, interviews "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson about his imminent match tonight against "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, but before we get any comments from Anderson; Okerlund takes us to this excellently designed with voice-over video package of their history up to this point anyway, then we come back to Okerlund and Anderson on-screen, where Anderson delivers this promo; Okerlund hands it back to our commentary team with wanting to know their opinion on this ongoing situation between these two friends

* Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel": Commentary they give their thoughts.

* David Penzer: Ring announcer says the stipulations and then introduces the competitors.

Match Total: 36/60 - this match is good.

Comments: it is solidly good, as soon as I say this; the experienced wrestling fans out there will completely understand everything you need to know about this match. It does what it is designed to do by moving the championship. I know I shouldn't say this, but I am going to anyway okay this match may be solidly good, but the crowd are here, but as you can tell by its attributes markings not very strongly and is irritating me.

Basic Result: I know I have indicated the result already, but I am just doing the admin, so you are new WCW World Television Champion is Diamond Dallas Page [with The Diamond Doll & Max Muscle.]

Basic walk-through of this event:

* Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel": Commentary talk about what they had just seen over video replays with, I knew this would happen one day if I introduced the entrance music and what I mean by that is this; I can't find this version of DDP theme entrance I can tell you that gimmick here is in the $13 million gimmick, Commentary pair on-screen within the commentary section talking about the Col. Robert Parker and the Sister Sherry situation

* David Penzer: Ring announcer says the stipulations and then introduces the competitors.

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 1/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel" 5/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 3/10

Recommend Watch: 1/10

Match Total: 14/60 - this match is poor.

Comments: now this would be a good time to go to the toilet if you need to go, but be warned you don't have long. Don't get me wrong the match slot storyline is something safe and reliable and the saving grace is the fact that this match doesn't go on for too long so hence why they got relatively high markings and when I say this match doesn't go on for too long it goes on for a whopping 82 seconds and no this is not spoken words/numbers 82 seconds is how long this match goes on for. I can’t really criticise our commentary pairing based on that timeframe, it was like “Here and gone thanks for coming what was the point of that?” That’s my opinion of it and to pad this out a little we get to see a finisher by the name of "Code Red" but it isn't the move that you are expecting to see by today's standards, that is all I can say about that without giving too much away.

Basic Result: Sgt Craig “PitBull" Pittman picks up the win

Basic walk-through of this event:

* Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel": Commentary talk about what they had just seen over video replays with Sgt. Craig Pittman's First Theme [with custom Tron,] apologies this is the best I could find as it relates to its actual name. Then we have our commentary team on-screen. Schiavone brings up going to the WCW Television Championship Match shortly and then switches to talk about "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff and in a nutshell his current slump in his career with Heenan joining in his opinion Schiavone sent us to a video package of Orndorff in the dressing room after his defeat to "The Macho Man" Randy Savage with Orndorff physically angry at himself until someone gives him a little pep talk Gary Spidey from The Psychic Companion's Network where Orndorff believes in himself again. We go back to our commentary pairing and they are talking about what they have just seen, basically as Schiavone indicates you just call him " Mr. Wonderful" with Heenan joining in on the "Wonderful" bit, [so I'm guessing here this was a little bit of a repackaging]

* David Penzer: Ring announcer says the stipulations and then introduces the competitors.

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WCW Fall Brawl: War Games 17/09/1995 Match 1 Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Chosen by: Me; I have been watching some episodes of WCW Monday Night Nitro on TNT, in fact I have been working on some content for that as well.

Basic walk-through of this event:

* A engaging and well presented a video package combined with voice-over of what this has to offer including a reference to “The Total Package" Lex Luger and his previous employees the WWF/WWE

* Competitors enter the ring

* Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel": Commentary talk about everything relating to with tonight's main event picture of Wars Games

* Michael Buffer: says welcomes us all to this pay-per-view, stipulation and introduces the opponents

Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/biting/shooting

Match/Stipulations: Flyin' Brian vs. "He's A Bad Man" Johnny B. Badd: Singles Match to Determine the #1 Contender for Sting's WCW United States Championship

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 8/10

Match Slot Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 4/10

On Commentary: Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel" 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10

Recommend Watch: 7/10

Match Total: 40/60 - this match is good.

Comments: the crowd participation is baffling, because this match/match slot is of high quality. Okay it does go up and down throughout the gears as it relates to the tempo and there are clash botches, but they aren't botches, they are just meant to look like them as they feed into the match storyline and Brian ever so slightly undercuts flying out of the ring as it is referenced on commentary by Schiavone [the steps side,] but there isn't anything majorly wrong with this action. It just irritated me that generally speaking there is some sound from the crowd, but no way as much as they should be with the quality of action taking place, I have to be honest the crowd really sucks out the energy out of this match, it's like as I have already said it is a high quality match, but because of the crowd it feels really long and don't get me wrong it is in its entirety slightly under 30 minutes, but any long-term fan would know this is one of those matches/match slots that the crowd can make a situation feel like a big deal in trust me I would be a little bit more understanding if this crowd were onside for a big chunk or chunks of this match, you know something a bit more positive like " We are here for this match, but we can't keep it up." And I would even go fair enough it is the first match of the night on this card and maybe they don't want to burn themselves out, but in fairness and balance this would be their fifth match of the night if they have watched the previous four pre-show matches, depending on if they have watched them or not. But either way this match should have been given a lot more reaction than what it gets, okay I am going to leave it there, because that is how much it has annoyed me.

But for a bit of comedy a camera picked up a sign that indicated Heenan for President and they discuss this on commentary and on top of that they discussed the very old and for the younger generations you will have to do is believe me a rule about suplex your opponent on the apron to the outside, but Brian was trying to bring Badd in, so the technicality of him simply reversing this move saved him from being disqualified and yes as of this content I am heading into my 40's that is how old I am.

Basic Results: Draw

But wait!

Referee [Nick Patrick] has been given the power to make this decision, so he informs the Ring announcer [Michael Buffer] but in a nutshell and paraphrasing here; we are heading into sudden death, because we need a #1 Contender for Sting's WCW United States Championship.

Basic Results: "He's A Bad Man" Johnny B. Badd is your new #1 Contender for Sting's WCW United States Championship.

Basic walk-through of this event:

* Tony Schiavone & Bobby "The Brain" Heenan/"Wiesel": Commentary talk about what they had just seen over video replays with "He's A Bad Man" Johnny B. Badd's theme music "Don't mess with Johnny B. Badd [with Torn.] Commentary pair on-screen within the commentary section talking what else is to come up on this pay-per-view here's a brief list by Schiavone; the main event War Games, the WCW Television Championship, WCW World Tag Team Championship and Flair vs. Anderson. Where Heenan joins in with his thoughts on the subject. Schiavone brings up our next match Cobra vs. Sgt Craig " PitBull" Pitman: Singles Match, with someone in the audience clearly irritating Heenan [this is speculation on my part based on it comes out of nowhere so it could be in kayfabe, but as I have already illustrated as it comes out of nowhere and really sudden, I didn't hear anything but Heenan has a quick retort "Hey same to you kid, a moment later as Schiavone is handing it over to Okerlund Heenan continues " Talk to me like that." I am paraphrasing with Okerlund apologising to Schiavone that he has to work with Heenan tonight, he says this in a serious professional tone. But anyone that has lived through this time in history knows they had priceless chemistry on-screen whenever they worked together in any promotion.

* "Mean" Gene Okerlund: interviewer, interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair about his match later on tonight.

* David Penzer: Ring announcer says the stipulations and then introduces the competitors.
