To save family, you must first turn your back on your family: Dominic Toretto [Vin Diesel] is on his honeymoon in Cuba with his wife Letty Ortiz [Michelle Rodriguez] until one day Toretto comes back from shopping and goes to help a woman with vehicle issues and she drops on him; paraphrasing here come and work for me or if not something will happen to your secret. The newcomer into this franchise goes by the name of Cipher [Charlize Theron] and by the way don't tell anyone of this, so she is very much holding all the cards.

The pacing for this 136 minutes film is good everything from foundation frame is good; you know there is a much I can say about it really other than they based this instalment of this franchise on a sturdy frame as it clearly does what he wants to do and it just gets on with it.

Well to begin with some art and comedy; DSS Luke Hobbs is coaching this young girls soccer/football team the Red Dragons against the Pink Butterflies and they need a goal so before they kick off again they do the haka and after this one girl says something to the effect of I don't want to play soccer any more. On a quick side note for people that don't know Johnson comes from the bloodline/cornerstone of professional wrestling that this is a big part of their culture. No I am not an expert on this kind of thing, but however I have been around wrestling since somewhere in the 1980s so in one way or another I have seen many members of his family wrestle, in fact in this current day within the WWE his cousins are better known as "The Bloodline" and one final thing his daughter, his eldest daughter Simone Alexandra Johnson has recently made her WWE debut under the ring name of Ava Raine.

But back to this film later on Deckard Shaw [Jason Statham] makes reference to Hobbs being like Hercules, now once again if you didn't know Johnson has already portrayed being Hercules in the film Hercules 2014.

The action sequences are what you come to expect from this franchise by now big clean and tidy; for an example we have Toretto is being pinned down in his car by his family/old crew including a newcomer Little Nobody [Scott Eastwood] with them being in their own vehicles firing a version of grappling hooks into his car, but unfortunately this doesn't go according to plan as Toretto has a lot of horsepower under his hood including how his vehicle is built with basically booster fuel [I am not a gear head; so I have no idea what this is; so let's just go with booster fuel.] So of course his vehicle is a bit worse for wear, but nothing compared to the damage he leaves his old crew/family in.

The character developments and the performances are mostly all good, but I have to say this; this love triangle kind of thing between  Roman Pearce [Tyrese Gibson,]  Ramsey [Nathalie Emmanuel] and  Tej Parker [Chris "Ludacris" Bridges] is doing absolutely nothing for me, this is one of those occasions where if it was earlier in the franchise say somewhere in the first four films, then they could have gotten away with it. Because these characters would have been younger, I would have been younger, so things would have been different. But because we are at this point on the eighth film and these characters are older; in Pearce and Parker they have been through a lot together as a family/crew and to be reduced to doing this one-upsmanship is over a woman it is just very sad and pathetic; like I said this love triangle is doing absolutely nothing for me.

This film receives: 7/10, this is a good film; it is another good instalment, but it does feel like it needs re-galvanising as a franchise. This film also has awards accredited to it; 2 Winners; MTV Movie + TV Awards 2017; MTV Generation Award For The Fast and the Furious , 2 Fast 2 Furious , The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift , Fast & Furious , Fast Five , Furious 6 and Fast & Furious 7 The Fast and the Furious franchise [at the same award ceremony/event] Best Action Sequence. 13 Nominees that include Teen Choice Awards 2017 Teen Choice Award all from the same award ceremony/event Choice Movie Actor: Action Dwayne Johnson, Choice Movie Actress: Action Michelle Rodrigue, z Choice Movie Villain Charlize Theron and for some strange reason this award is under this project Choice Movie Actor: Action Vin Diesel For xXx: Return of Xander Cage.
