Review Time

Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects/electrocution/shooting/self harming/burning

We have to find it before he does: Benjamin Gates/Paul Brown [younger; Hunter Gomez/older; Nicholas Cage;] this treasure hunter/cryptographer. with Riley Poole [Justin Bartha] is trying to solve this mystery of this treasure which was passed down from his grandfather John Adams Gates [Christopher Plummer,] which Benjamin's father Patrick Henry Gates [Jon Voight] doesn't believe in, but I should point out that before someone else comes back to me, he spent a long time looking for this treasure is well, before not believing in it. But back in present times Benjamin and Riley have to get to the next clue before Benjamin's old financier Ian Howe [Sean Bean;] wealthy with dealing with criminal activities and his right-hand man Shaw [David Dayan Fisher] get to the clue first, you see they were working on the same page until Benjamin and Ian had a disagreement on how to get their hands on this clue, this is where Benjamin found out that Ian had criminal let's just say dealings, on the way we meet Dr. Abigail Chase [Diane Kruger;]Archivist at the National Archives and finally we have the FBI [Federal Bureau of Investigation] in pursuit headed by Special Agent Peter Sadusk [Harvey Keitel.] The pacing for this 131 minutes film to begin with is good and mobile, but eventually it just slowly but surely runs out of steam, so when you get around say it roughly before the three-quarter stage and for the rest of it; it ambled along.

This is a safe and reliable project; meaning it does follow the formula of how to put a film out, with using a format and everything that comes with that particular format or genre without risking things to greatly as in it hits its demographic of a family adventure film which will bring back a financial profit.

So basically creative action sequences; check; what with chasing sequences and what with the extremely fragile staircase and elevator or the illumination of this room with these artefacts in which is in itself is excellent art as well, including without giving too much away the historic storyteller told by Benjamin's grandfather, these artefacts or/and the creation of these clues, being highly creative and imaginative in one way or another, so as it relates to the art; check, but I hasten to add Nominee Visual Effects Society Awards 2005; VES Award Outstanding Models and Miniatures in a Motion Picture Matthew Gratzner Forest P. Fischer Scott Beverly Leigh-Alexandra Jacob For the treasure room. Comedy this is Riley's department for a majority of the time and this is his character design to be computer savvy to a very high level, but is a bit of a coward and is not on the same intellect as Benjamin and/or Abigail, there is one occasion where he has one over them in this film; so check.

The character developments and performances; they are all good; there is all good chemistry in this cast, but I have to say that it is good to see Harvey Keitel in a film, they say form may fade but class is forever and yes we have this love interest between Benjamin and Abigail; so that would be another check, but in the interest of fairness and balance; they did get a Nominee or Nominees for their performances such as; Jupiter Award 2005; Best International Actor Nicolas Cage Jupiter Award; Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA 2005; Saturn Award Best Supporting Actress Diane Kruger.

This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; as I have shown with this review and check list format here, this project has been sent out to do what it has been designed to do which is be a solidly good family adventure film title and it achieves that, it also has 1 Winner award accredited to its name BMI Film & TV Awards 2005; BMI Film Music Award Trevor Rabin and 9 Nominees including Undine Awards, Austria 2005; Undine Award Best Young Actress - Film (Beste jugendliche Hauptdarstellerin in einem Kinospielfilm) Diane Kruger.
