Finally
Morbius takes flight: I will begin
here; after finding these vampire bats in Costa Rica, Dr. Michael Mobius [Jared
Leto/Younger Michael: Charlie Shotwell] takes them back to the United States of
America so he can find a cure for his rare blood disease, which needs dialysis
every few days, he isn't just doing this for himself, he is also doing it for
his brother Milo Morbius [Matt Smith/Younger: Loxias a.k.a. Milo: Joseph Esson]
both have been kind of adopted by Dr. Emil Nicholas [Jared Harris] and people
with the same blood disease like one of Dr Mobius' patience Anna [Unknown
performer.] Dr. Mobius has a working partner by the name of Dr. Martine
Bancroft [Adria Arjona.] But at some point in the future the FBI are going to
want to talk to Dr. Mobius; FBI Agent's Simon Stroud [Tyrese Gibson] and
Alberto "Al" Rodriguez [Al Madrigal.]
Well
this film is good, but it has problems, such as Why does Michael and Milo have
the last same name when they aren't related? Unless Michael gave permission so
that Milo could legally changed his name, by deed poll. We never find out what
happens to Anna and yes the ending to this project could have done with so much
work, I mean all we get is Dr. Mobius in vampire form flying towards the camera
and then the word "Mobius" on-screen followed by not one but two
ending credits through the closing credits.
The
pacing for this 104 minute film is steady to begin with but the more you watch
of it the better it gets, in fact minus the problems I have just already
pointed out including another problem which I will discuss in due course things
progressively get better the more you watch of it.
Now
on to the final problem now and again [but I will give you an example to begin
with] where this NYPD Officer fires these bullets at Dr. Mobius in vampire
form [he doesn't get a clean shot off, because FBI Agent
Stroud prevents him from doing this; he is attempting to do things
civilly this is really ugly as in not a positive these slow motion effects
in this case and some other moments which are very tiny just really don't do
this film any favours whatsoever. But then again when they really explore
either before or after this sequence I have criticised, regardless of Dr.
Mobius being in either form they did make these sequences looked at good to
highly engaging depending where you are in this film, be it where Dr. Mobius is
finding out what is capable of including for a brief example picking up
how to fly which this has to be on the highly engaging side of things or any
scenes with bats involved.
The
character developments and the performances are what they are meant to be so
minus the last name thing, they are all solidly good.
This
film receives: 7/10, this film is good; yes
this film has problems and yes this film doesn't have Peter Parker/Spider-Man
[Tom Holland] so using Dr. Michael Mobius as a spearhead for his own film this
is a good film with little bits comedy in it as well,, it does the foundation
work for a connecting film title or maybe a sequel, but however I do stress if
there was to be another Mobius film there is lots to work on here, so basically
a good foundation film but I want to see a big improvement if there was to be a
sequel of his own.
