There has been murders at this club by the name of
Ruckus: Det. Freddy Vargas [Luke Wilson]
and Det. Bill Freeman [Bruce Willis] find this cigarette lighter at this crime
scene "Gasoline Alley" which is basically a small piece of
advertisement for this tattoo studio owned and run by Jimmy Jayne [Devon Sawa]
which of course puts him as their number one suspect. The pacing for this
roughly speaking 97 minutes film is like the rest of this film; it knows what
it is doing and it sticks to the plan, the only thing I can pick as a negative
is Det. Freddy Vargas, straight off the bat I get his character type of being
annoying as soon as you meet him; speculation on my part it could put potential
suspects on the back foot or/and in this case as Jimmy Jayne is an ex-con he is
used to this kind of dance with protect and serve personnel, so as I have just
said I get it, but he is a jarring character to begin with in the opening
section or somewhere around here, but this personality trait as we go on
throughout this film fades over time, so he is a much more palatable character.
Let's
begin with the comedy there are some elements of comedy such as there is a TV
program called "American Siege" being worked on in this film one of
the stars of this TV program is Dennis Bourke [Kenny Wormald,] let's just say
as soon as you see bits and pieces of how this TV program is being made either
it is over the top or how stunt doubles or potentially used and this may be completely coincidental, but it
just so happens that Bruce Willis has a film title released before this film by
exactly the same name American Siege 2021 Link https://averagemansreviews2017.blogspot.com/2022/01/american-siege-2021-by.html, just to cover my back I am
making reference to the title and not the film itself and in the interest of
fairness and balance the duo that are the leading stars of this TV program are
Faith Hope [unknown performer] and the other one I have just mentioned..
Now
to point out an action sequence; it would have to be this vehicle on vehicle
chasing sequence involving Jimmy Jayne and this other character waiting for
this rail crossing guard to go up; Jimmy Jayne has this cigarette in his mouth
[not a light] this other individual comes beside him in his vehicle puts down
his window and shoots his gun [shoots through the window; the closed window of
the passenger front side; so why didn't he go around to the driver side?
Because this individual had space to do this.;] But I digress this is chasing
sequence begins and then we have this game of chicken. Now and again there are
some good looking scenery by day or by night as there is a little bit of
thundering. The character developments and the performances are generally
speaking [keeping in mind what I said about it earlier] they are all good.
This film receives: 6/10, this film is good; after everything is said and done this mark is the outcome.
