Get ready and embrace the
goofiness: Brooklyn in the 1990; after Sarah
Noble [Isabelle Allen] gets brought into this videogame known as The
Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud or Max Cloud [I am taking an educated
guess that this is at least one of the titles of this videogame, because we don’t
see the opening sequence to this videogame] as this chef character known as
Jake [Elliot James Langridge] by this very powerful witch; Space Whitch [Jason
Maza,] it is a mixture between her, her friend Cowboy [Franz Drameh] and her
dad Tony [Sam Hazeldine] that can control her/Jake in the real world using a
joy pad or other accessory. But don't worry Sarah/Jake is not the only
character going through this adventure, we need Captain Max Cloud [Scott
Adkins] and other videogame characters/another player, to stop the evil
Revengor [John Hannah] and Shee [Lashana Lynch.]
Like
I said earlier get ready and embrace the goofiness, because this is precisely
what you will have to do, because it is a more or less ever present minus a few
moments here and there straight off the bat; Jake is hanging upside down with
these white gloves on something like Mickey Mouse wears, quickly followed by
meeting Captain Cloud; he has this entrance like this highly decorated, science
fiction, adventure and action character with background music to match as he is
trying to reach/talking to someone on his communicator from this dialogue exchange
he/we find out they have crashed landed on Alpha Zed-3 [better known as Heinous
is prison for the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy.]
Captain
Cloud takes on these unwanted intruders he throws a dagger into the controls
and begins putting foot to posterior; [where Jake/Sarah is hiding behind this
open door after they warned Captain Cloud about the threats] Captain Cloud
mimics the equivalent of something like the Streets of Rage, Street Fighter II
garnished with a Mortal Kombat reference "Finnish Him!" it gets used
more than once in this film.
Later
on, I am going to make a basic reference to this, because it shows even the
evildoers are in on the goofiness as well; we have Revengor in his lair doing
his Brobeck's on a VHS via TV with a headband on and Shee refusing to talk to
him whilst he is doing whatever he is doing.
The
art is highly imaginative and creative be it these videogame graphics or this
vs. mode or scenery; basically there is a lot to see and experience in this
title.
The
character developments and the performances are all positive; because having to
keep a straight face whilst delivering some of these lines must have been
really difficult, but ultimately lots of fun and just to finish off the pacing
is quick paced which is very easy to understand why when you have all of this
ongoing film doing its thing.
This film receives: 10/10, this film is lots of fun; the only negative
thing I could say here is and this is nothing against the film, but if you
don't embrace the goofiness this film may get under your skin and just to
finish off there is no after a credit seen, but if you want to hear Captain Max
Cloud say the final words to this film he says them here.
