Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WWF/WWE WrestleMania I 31/03/1985 Match 1/Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Pay-Per-View Rewind of: WWF/WWE WrestleMania I 31/03/1985 Match 1/Part 1 by AverageMansReviews - Spoiler Alarm!

Chosen by: Me; just because we are heading into the festive period and there is no bigger stage then this in all of professional wrestling and even though I have never seen this pay-per-view in its entirety, this company have been known to use bits of it in other video packages and as it is the first this one seems to have a party atmosphere.

Background information: before our first match; we have this white and gold text of " WWF WrestleMania" and pictures of opponents and whom they are going to be facing on the other side of the screen and on either side who is their manager or associated with or is going to be involved in some capacity tonight, followed by this were some strange reason blue text with a red underline of "WrestleMania " [all in Capitals] Madison Square Garden underneath in dark yellow text with Monsoon introducing us to this pay-per-view and himself and Venture [both briefly appearing on screen.] As he hands things over to our Ring announcer Howard Finkel to then and things over to "Mean" Gene Okerlund to sing the national anthem. After this things get handed back to our commentary team to talk about this; then Monsoon sends it down to Lord Alfred Hayes which he basically focuses on the upcoming match with saying these are recorded comments with Okerlund and [fill in the missing gaps] and we see these pre-recorded interviews building up this up-and-coming match; I know this was the mid-1980's but for those that are young or were not even born yet. You will experience a very basic format of an interview from the perspective of you have both competitors here in this locker room, first we have Santana having this interview with Okerlund he does his promo leaves on one side of the screen; Okerlund continues by talking about bringing in The Executioner [at the same time we have a WWF WrestleMania graphic coming onto the screen blocking it, so it gives the cameraman and Okerlund a moment to change things ever so slightly light Okerlund changes sides [Santana leaves the short Okerlund and the cameraman moves across incomes The Executioner,] but they are in the same room. I know things were done differently back then including the financial aspect, but on reflection it does somewhat undermine kayfabe when you have both participants doing promos about one another whilst the other is yes out of screenshot, but somewhere around in close proximity; on screen in short is this upcoming match World Wrestling Federation insert name vs. insert name; Finkel sets down this match and introduces the competitors

Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful effects

Match/Stipulation: The Executioner vs. Tito Santana: Singles Match

Match Attributes:

Match Quality: 8/10

Match Storyline: 7/10

Crowd Participation: 10/10

On Commentary: Gorilla Monsoon & Jesse "The Body” Venture 7/10

Satisfying Conclusion: 7/10

Recommend Watch: 7/10

Match Total: 46/60 - this match is excellent

Comments: now if you come across this match and you are wondering why this match is rated based on its attributes so highly, this match is all about Santana and what a quality wrestler he is and was and not forgetting the crowd; this is one of those situations where they are a little bit quiet, but after everything is said and done it would be harsh to give them anything less.

Basic Result: Tito Santana picks up the win here

Background information: after this match; Monsoon and Venture looks at the replay and discussing the closing stages of this match and then after that we get basically the same format as it relates Monsoon sending it to Hayes [still reading this information off something,] Okerlund interviews; just a different place [half a yellow and half a gray from left to right with the WWF acronym] Okerlund interviewing S.D  Jones and then  Bundy [with Jimmy Hart] and we get this text on screen insert name vs. insert name and then Finkel does his thing.
