Review Time: this film is top-notch
entertainment.
Fundamental elements: there are
voice-over elements, words on screen, background music, cultural elements,
interpreter elements learning a language from a tape, yes and no to subtitles
being used when another language is being used, time jumps and place jumps.
Movement;
this project settles down from the very beginning; it has geared changes in its
movement [depending where you are; is depending what you get,] but it is always
moving; the fundamental elements and the movement gives this project a reliably
hard base to work from [I should just give you a heads up this will not be the
only time I will say something to the effect of reliably, I am not being lazy
with my dictation it is just a case of; it is what it is.]
Storyline/Origin storyline/Back stories: the storyline itself is reliably good, the way this film finishes
they have/had with a question mark as it relates to one character/performer
[Greene/Buscemi] which they could have/should have made a sequel from any time
from 2002 to 2012 would have been a realistic time span to come out with an out
and out sequel
I mean they
could still do a sequel, but it would have to be using this format/formula of
Daughter [Casey Poe] following in her daddy's footsteps and history repeating
itself that kind of thing and assembling in 2020 version of the 1997 version of
cast; characters/performers and bring back some of the 1997 cast;
characters/performers Cameron Poe/Cage, Tricia Poe/Potter, Casey Poe/Allbright,
Larkin/Cusack, Malloy/Malloy and 'Baby-O'/Williamson as well. We get a little
bit of continuity between the two films and also we can use a slogan like New
Cons take to the air, but same old parts trying to get them down."
But back to
this film; the origin storyline is the opening section to this film [before the
title of this project,] the back stories come to the viewers via voice-over
letters/care packages, dialogue exchanges with live pictures of the criminals
including a profile picture and dialogue exchanges on their own in this film.
Action sequences/Comedy level/Artistic visions: there are some occasions where the action sequences and the comedy
level works hand-in-hand; I will give you one example; we have these armed
Choppers chasing down this Blackbox [basic description; it tells people where
this aircraft is amongst other things,] but this Blackbox is on a nice little
tour instead of where it should be.
Individually
the action sequences have weapons being used, combat, different vehicles being
used, different aircraft being used and for the comedy level; it is well-placed
and well-timed; it ranges between mature to adult/dark; the dark is situated
around Greene/Buscemi as this character/performer is highly intelligent and
down to Earth, but as you will learn in this film he needs to be feared; yet he
is highly respected by Grissom full name including alias Cyrus "The
Virus" Grissom/Malkovich and here is something for you to look out for;
look out for this arm, so just for one more quick example of the comedy level;
there is this very short song about a character/performer losing his bladder on
the airplane.
Artistic
visions; there is dancing, singing, some scenery and there is this great
creativity on how to decipher this letter.
Character developments/Performances: the character developments are reliably good minus one
character/performer, Greene/Buscemi's character developments are in-depth and
perspective changing on his present and future. Now moving on to the
performances; this is one of those occasions where; these performers take their
character developments and run with them, the chemistry/friction, yes once
again depending where you are; is depending what you get. But from beginning to
end you will get chemistry/friction which is always natural and free-flowing;
this is a flawless cast performance.
This film receives: 10/10, this film is a classic and you should see it at least once,
before you die.
