Blade Runner 2049 2017 by AverageMansReviews
Review Time: this
film generally speaking has so much to offer its audiences, but it does have
some problems as well.
Time/Subtitles: this
film is just too long it roughly goes on for 163 minutes [not including
advertisements,] now usually I wouldn't put this in any of my reviews, but in
this case it illustrates my point perfectly, because I am in a wheelchair going
to the toilet isn't a five-minute job so without saying too much I was
physically getting uncomfortable on two levels, the first being watching a film
for this amount of time without taking a break can be hard work and secondly no
toilet break [that is all I am going to say on this matter.]
Just for the record I have seen longer films before, for
one example [The Wolf of Wall Street 2013, it is 180 minutes long I think.] But
to be fair that was on DVD and not at the cinema, if I went to go see this film
at the cinema when it was showing I would have had the same problem.
Subtitles they are okay-ish for me I would have
preferred them to be green or a blue or something that stood out a bit more and
whilst I am on the subject I wasn't too keen on the words on screen at the
beginning of the film.
Artistic visions:
so you may be wondering why would I go to the cinema to watch this very long
film. To that I would like to say this; just look at this film it looks
fantastic from beginning to end and it needs to be seen on a big screen. It
doesn't matter where you look whilst you're watching this project, there is
always something to see or to feel on a big or medium or little scale. This
basically means it could be the atmosphere controls being used to a masterful
level to create different tones in different scenes, in one scene it could be
dark and slow, followed by something quick and hard hitting or to be honest the
possibilities are endless, the rotations in the atmosphere controls and the
artistic visions are moving in perfect sync with one another.
The individual scenes or sequences, the audience will
understand quickly that every scene or sequence matters to this project and
what should give you this impression is the fact that it doesn't matter if it
is the previous or present or future scene or sequence everything has been
given the same level of respect or attention and on a side note some of these
scenes or sequences have some really interesting individual elements to them [I
will not tell you these elements] because they are there to capture the
viewer's attention, but to be fair all I can say is this; they are in this film
title somewhere and they are amazing because they really do help to bring a
sense of amazement yet how things could be like in the future.
Cast: this
cast individually or together or different groupings, put in really impactful
performances there are no weak characters in this film, on reflection these
character developments highlight what it is like to live in this futuristic
world, many people are not as they first appear or they are doing what they
think is necessary or now and again you may get the feeling that some people in
this futuristic world are just trying to survive it.
Ford and Leto, in this scene they are having this
dialogue exchange [they are both sitting down facing one another,] because of
the atmosphere controls, these two performers responding to what is being said
in the right way [within their character developments,] these scenes are
intense but it has been built for these dialogue exchanges to have this quiet
undertone to illustrate that one character has been around for a very long time
and will not be intimidated by anyone, whilst the other is very intelligent and
he will get what he wants by any means necessary if he needs to [or get his
assistant to do it,] Hoeks this performer will be somewhere in these scenes
[including one other character as well.]
This is just one example of the kind of standard I am
talking about as it relates to the cast; it is good to see that every character
has a really in-depth character development to them.
This film receives: 74% approval, now this percentage of approval may seem a
little low considering I have highly praised it in most areas [on a side note
the action-packed sequences are really good fun as well,] but this number comes
from an overview perspective.
So yes this film has many wonderful elements to it, but
the audience doesn't get to see much of Batista or Leto [consistently his
character developments/performance, has or had so much more to offer this
project than what screen time this character/performer got given,] the ending
could have done with being something a little bit better than what it is and
not forgetting this film is too long.
Now if they split this film down into two parts, the
first part being released this year and the second part being release next year
in the summer of 2018 that would have been better, this is why I haven't
mentioned too much about the tempo of this project, because every scene or
sequence matters, but then again this sequel feels like a bit of a marathon.
