K-9: P.I. 2002 by AverageMansReviews
Review Time
Warning: there is flashing effects/colourful
effects/drugs/animal waste/medical/shooting
This is just a shell of its former glory: now retired Detective Mike Dooley/not Thomas Dooley like it says in the ending credits [James Belushi] and likewise retired Police Officer and partner Jerry Lee [King the German Shepherd dog] stumble onto this robbery of high-tech, because they are there when official Police Officers and other Detectives arrived he is a suspect, consequently his retirement pension gets frozen until this situation has been resolved, on top of that they start up their own Private Investigator Agency. The pacing of this 95 minutes film is something safe and reliable, but the comedy content generally speaking is of a poor standard, I mean don't get me wrong there are some moments like Jerry Lee chases this small remote-controlled car [ police car with flashing lights] which was a gift to I will say both of them, so Dooley has the control driving it and Jerry Lee is playfully chasing after it and eventually picks it up with his teeth and put it into a nearby trashcan, yes Jerry Lee still does his grabbing balls thing and everything he does in the final sequence with or without Dooley; it starts with him breaking through a window and ends with him pulling up Dooley and a criminal using his teeth to pull on Dooley's genes and everything else in the middle.
The character developments and the
performances; generally speaking first of all they are what they are meant to
be, meaning they do their job. When this film is going through its better
moments it reminds you of the beautiful chemistry between our lead partnership
and Laura Fields [Kim Huffman] and Molly [unknown name German Shepherd dog] and
other dogs at the end of the film.
This film receives: 4/10, this film is mixed; I mean it shows now and again
glimpses of this trilogy, on a quick side note after about 45 minutes, the
penny had finally dropped even though I had the information staring me in the
face but I've only just worked it out, they have displayed the sequence of
films in the wrong order on the UK trilogy box set so K-9 1989, then it should
go K-9000 1991 a science fiction film [this is not a part of the trilogy box
set they have just gone with the James Belushi titles] then .K-911 and finally
K-9: P.I. 2002, I have to say this review has been a pain to put together, if
you know me or have been following me long enough, you should know or I don't
mind doing the hard work of researching, but all I'm saying is it would help if
the information was their or in the right order to begin with. This film also
has 4 Nominees accredited to its name all of them come from the same award
ceremony/event DVD Exclusive Awards 2003; DVD Premiere Award; Best Actress
Barbara Tyson, Best Supporting Actor Gary Basaraba, Best Screenplay Gary Scott
Thompson and Best Cinematography Roy H. Wagner.
