The Roadie: Singles Match
Match Attributes:
Match Quality: 6/10
Match Storyline: 7/10
Crowd Participation: 8/10
On Commentary: Jerry "The
King" Lawler & Vince McMahon 7/10
Satisfying Conclusion: 5/10
Recommend Watch: 7/10
Match Total: 40/60 - this match is good
Comments: this match has in one way or another something else
happening during or just after in its match slot. Now there are two botches in
this match; the first one is where it seems like The Roadie doesn't get high
enough on a leapfrog and consequently Kid catches his foot and rolls underneath
or in fairness and balance this could show Kid's martial arts abilities, but
the more I look at it I am going to stick with a botch here.
The next one is a little bit more [I lied a lot more
obvious] and whomever came up with this spot deserves a frying pan around the
back of the head seriously, it is unbelievably stupid regardless if this is
kayfabe or reality. Because in this feud basically at this point in history you
had Double J. and The Roadie damaging and putting The 1-2-3 Kid on the shelf
with a neck injury [we see footage of the incident via Home Coliseum Video.]
But back to this spot, so The Roadie performs this piledriver from the top
turnbuckle; I will give you a second to digest that and yes this honestly
happens.
But no surprise this does not go fully according to plan
as The Roadie's far leg moves so The Kid more than likely feels more of the
impact than what he should. Disclaimer: Yes I have never been
trained or been inside a wrestling ring, but
the more you watch of wrestling; the more you learn the mechanics of it,
so in this case of what I know when it comes to moves such as these it goes
aggressive's legs straight to protect receiver's head, neck, shoulders and
spine from impact is much as you can [repetitive impact wears down the body
regardless.]
The 1-2-3 Kid goes
down like a sack of potatoes with this unpleasant sound as to indicate this
movement has not gone according to plan and it has partially collapsed as The
Roadie is trying to keep the movement together as best as he can, it's like
this slow thud, so if Kid didn't have a real neck injury before this; there is
a good chance he does now. Vince on commentary says "From way up above,
hopefully The Kid's neck is alright." And here is me thinking once again
someone needs a frying pan around the back of the head, because it is an
unnecessary and dangerous risk.[Later on in this match slot; Vince McMahon says
"However The 1-2-3 Kid is on his way, I think he is being assisted back to
the locker room, he is going to be alright." I must point out Vince
McMahon is talking about something else which is going on at the same time as
well; the cameras are showing us this, instead of Kid receiving assistance or
help.] But this also adds more weight to something went wrong here. I mean if
they wanted to continue this narrative about Kid's neck, they should have just
gone with a normal piledriver [I know it is still risky, but it is a lot less
riskier than this idea that is for sure or go with a submission or something
anything a little bit more safer;] the more times I see this piledriver the
more I just don't like it.
Basic Result: The Roadie picks up the W.
